Well, I finally got my HID kit for my 880 fogs and it more than justified the mod once I got power to them, it really completes teh front end. Here is a 880 HID at 35W and 4300K compared to a Sylvania 893.

I have not finished assemply yet as seen by the ballast on the ground. However, I have come in to some questions for those of you who have down this mod.

Ultimately, the part that goes into the factory wireharness is two spade type connectors, as there is not a female adator that fits into with the kit. i have tried to illustrate in teh pic. It works, but the harness where it connects to the factory wiring now has two exposed spade connectors slid into it. Not water proof in the least. Is this normal? did I get the wrong kit. Ultimately I could just clip it and solder or connect the proper wires but I might want to reverse this some day.

your thoughts??

I havent put them in yet. Just got them yesterday and havent had time. I'll probably do what you did and wrap a roll of electrical tape around it lol.

what kind of kit is that? mine came with plugs that just plugged into my stock wiring, no need to splice or tape anything.

Looks like it might be the wrong kit. SOme come with both, send it back if you can otherwise you would have to splice it or wrap it up real good with tape

Bailey--

That's exactly what I got, too. It works fine, fellas, just a different setup.

All I've done to seal it was wrap it real good in electrical tape. You could probably get some silicone and dab it around the connections for a better seal, too, but even then I'd still tape it up. Try to mount the ballasts and wiring as high as you can, though, to keep as much road muck and water off it as possible.

It's break-up in Alaska, and we've got some monster puddles going on, and thus far everything is working fine.

When I got mine installed, I didn't question the connection. The tabs go right into the slots, easy enough. Didn't even know there was a plug-type setup until later reading some of the other HID threads.

Oh boys, I have found an even better solution. So, the reason that the harness does not fit together is that the male end of the OEM wires coming from the source(engine bay, loom, wherever, has the prong receptacles(maybe its female) too narrow. On top of that, there is a small semi-circle tab that does not allow this plug to slide into the DDM Ballast.

Solution, use needle nose and move (bend) the metal prongs from within the ballast receptacle so that they are narrower. It barely needs to bent. Now, shave off that semi circle. Now the factory wire plug can slip right into the ballast. No need to use the Jumper supplied by DDM. I will admit, the fit is not perfect and you cannot get the tabs to lock. But, it is easier to seal this up with electrical tape than the 2 exposed spade connectors.

Tuck away and voila.

Oh, also, the deflector on my passenger side fog was on the way when trying to insert longer 880 HID bulb. All I did was push into it with a screw driver and bend it a 1/4 inch. No more touching. I have not seen the light pattern at night yet but I am sure it is fine.

Oh. Nice. I honestly never even thought of trying to make that fit, but that makes perfect sense.

Good call.

And instead of electrical tape, they make a different kind used to waterproof coax connections and the like. It's almost like a rubber band type material. I'd use that if you can find it. (I use it on the extension cords for X-Mas lights to seal them up. Holds up much better than electrical tape.)

My DDM fog kit came with both; the 880 oval plug and it came with the 2 prongs, the way the OP has it hooked up with the two prongs. I pulled those 2 prongs out of the rubber grommet and threw em away. It comes with the oval plug too for plug and play which i used.

MIne is a simle plug and play. Here's my experience with the HID fogs.

The other day, the glass broke on my right fog. I noticed that the plastic reflector is melted on the top and the bottom. I checked the left fog and saw the same thing. However, when I installed my HID's, the metal "thing" was loose for both sides. Maybe, the bulb heated the metal too much????

Another thing I noticed is that the fog without the metal and the glass is brighter than one with the "metal thing". So, I'm planning to open the other fog light, remove the metal and put the glass back via silicon. Ebay sells the glass part for $ 15.

I'll repair the melted part of the reflector by cutting a piece of mirror, shape it into the bottom reflector and glue it in there..... if I buy a whole assembly, I'm afraid the reflector will melt again.

Any thoughts???
