That looks great!
Can he change the prndl display? Is it expensive?Very similar to the NNBS clusters which is fine I don't like over the top flashy. Now I gotta find some sort of trans temp sensor solution.

Also you're looking for another temp display for your tc? Besides the regular trans temp? So you want 2 trans temp displays? No PRNDL display change and $430 shipped with my choice of needles and backlights. I though that was dang good! I got quoted $550 starting for just the cluster then the needles and light would be extra.

Maybe @915_Tahoe can help you out with this. He does work at a dealership. No, I just want the trans temp gauge in the new cluster to work, No NV4500 Manual trans came with a temp sensor that I can find and I'm striking out on what kind of sensor 4l60/80s use. One google search yielded that weird Oring sealed sensor yet another brings up what looks like n ECT sensor and another shows that its part of the electronic controller or something crazy. I usually can find anything on GMpartdirect but they don't even list a trans temp sensor for any model NBS I can think of that came factory with a Trans temp gauge.
According to the GM parts site I use, the temp sensor on a 4l60 is incorporated into the fluid pressure switch assembly. There is no separate one afaik. No, I just want the trans temp gauge in the new cluster to work, No NV4500 Manual trans came with a temp sensor that I can find and I'm striking out on what kind of sensor 4l60/80s use. I do my oil changes at 3k.270k mile oil change done, Wix tall bou filter with 5qts of pennzoil GTX full synthetic, and 1qt Lucas oil stabilizer. Drain plugs looked good and so did the filter, very happy with this unknown SBE. Also noticed that the Fram gold filter i took off has a newer design metal screen encapsulating the filter element and I wasnt able to cut it with a razor blade to open the medium up and inspect it like usual. That's good and bad, good because I suspect the filter would easily be good for 20k miles. Bad because I cant inspect them as well, might stick to a cheaper filter from now on since I change at 5k. The fram gold would be better suited for my Tacoma that sees less than 10k a year but only gets an oil change once a year at best.
Looks like the tranny is starting to leak out the top shifter rubber 1" spacer plate. Not a huge deal because I'm planning on draining it for the temp sensor install soon anyway. Not sure why this NV4500 seems to eat those top spacers so much this is the second one since I owned it.
You use conventional right? Even with the cheapest oil out there 3k is kinda soon IMO, I certainly wouldn't think youd need a super expensive filter for that short interval. Unless 3k is like 9 months time.I do my oil changes at 3k.
I do use conventional. When I took both of my vehicles to get an oil change the guy used synthetic. After a few months the motor got $crewed in the Tahoe, and the oil pressure eventually went to 0 at idle in my van--and it started knocking. I think with the van the synthetic loosened up alot of sludge which eventually clogged oil passages, which I think eventually did something to the oil pump. It looked like whomever owned the van never did oil changes. Tremendous amount of sludge! Replaced the oil pump and it was fine. I now have around 60 psi at startup. Synthetic scares me lol.You use conventional right? Even with the cheapest oil out there 3k is kinda soon IMO, I certainly wouldn't think youd need a super expensive filter for that short interval. I remember reading that in your thread, I'd be scared too lol. Its amazing the van just needed an oil pump and is fine that's lucky! Did you do anything else to help clean out the sludge? Maybe run some ATF in the oil?I do use conventional. When I took both of my vehicles to get an oil change the guy used synthetic. He's a flasher and kept showing me his junk!Good thing the dog was there to help.![]()
After the oil pump was done I filled it with 6 quarts of trans fluid and let it run for awhile, drained then filled with conventional. Did another oil change maybe 500 miles later and that's it. Now the tc is slipping, taking a few seconds to go into drive. I need to take it to the trans guy to replace the tc and pump now. Van is a POS, and it's gonna cost me $1300! It only has 151k on it too. Getting back to the oil change--I'm pretty religious with the 3k oil changes. Actually I think when it's cold idle might be more like 80 psi. Put a hv melling in it. Warmed up it's around 60 at idle.I remember reading that in your thread, I'd be scared too lol. Its amazing the van just needed an oil pump and is fine that's lucky!
