i was ashamed by version 1.0 so i reordered a few parts to re-do it. also adding another flex section to the passenger side pipe. cause i planned on solidly mounting the turbo so i need some flex between the engine and it.
still no heads so im waiting on them and to install them before i tack anything more together incase fit is a little different. havent messed with it much past week or so

I haven't bugged you with tuning because I haven't had the mental capacity to get past my mental block....I did figure out the issue with the credits on my own though. Had to sync the interface with the scanner, smh.

yea really i just needed a new flange and flex joints, had ordered enough tubing first time around left over, still debating on having "professional" tig it all up. was trying to pick up a tig last weekend, jumped on and found a post for a miller diversion 180 "cheap", ****** facebook marketplace bs tho. i dont use fb - signed up, but then it wouldnt let me contact for x amount of time, had a friend send a message with my number, didnt hear anything for two days...dude messaged my friend back, he didnt tell me for another day or two by the time he sold it


figured it wasnt too bad...hptuners the company is usually pretty helpful.

imo, hold out on a tig until you get the mig down. It's quite a bit more complicated, especially on aluminum. They do make a pretty weld when you get it tuned in.

Agreed. I have a scratch start tig/stick combo and I like it a-lot but I struggle with the tig. Just can’t keep from sticking the tungsten.
When it comes to aluminum, not all tig welders are meant to do it. You really need a high frequency unit for that I believe.

yea thats pretty much why i hadnt pulled the trigger yet. if im going to spend the money on it id like to (eventually) have the capability to do aluminum. which drives the cost up for the ac/dc units

I saw a video where a guy used one in straight polarity to weld aluminum. I am not good enough with mine to try it yet.

i had to draw the line somewhere....got priced for a journal bearing gt55 - but looking for a lightly used one i pretty much just skipped over them *pinkys up*
to keep this under budget this is a gen 1 gtx, billet wheel, ball bearing.... there are gen 2s out that will support another couple hundred hp but are also another $1500, just couldnt do it....

I have a bad habit of : o if I'm going to spend that what's another couple hunnit.

But I'm done, no more turbos. Maybe a new exhaust housing down the road cause they didn't have the 1.40a/r in stock. Could order take a few weeks so I just said to send with the 1.24ar. Faster spool, the 1.40 would just make more power way up high

heads scheduled delivery saturday also so i can finally close engine back up, i'll see how it goes prob wont get back on exhaust till next week. have a few changes to make to fuel plumbing and stuff and id rather get the intake back on and stuff

Glad to see you making some progress! I think we all have that point to where enough is enough. You've far surpassed my threshold but we all have one. Nothing wrong with that!

I'm sure she'll be beast when you get it back together. Hoping for the best possible outcome and it being where you want it, so you can just enjoy it for a while.

waiting on heads.... show on the truck for delivery
cleaned all the arp hardware, put the studs back in the block, layed the head gaskets down - which is interesting...these have the stainless hoops, i assumed they were bonded to the rest of the headgasket in some way but nope they pretty much just lay into the opening in the gasket. very small interference to "hold" them, with the rest of the gasket on the block they sorta warp and lift in some spots. going to be a little nerve racking setting the head down on them hoping they stay where theyre sposed to
