Eh.. who doesn’tShould be towards the top end, depending on cam of course. I think that's what this 224/228 wants is more head.

Eh.. who doesn’t

Don't we all?
Mine is 5.3 with BTR stage 2 truck cam (210/223), those heads milled .010. Wasn't originally doing heads but the seats were pitted on my stockers. I wish I had gotten a higher lift cam but oh well. This will be paired with a Circle D 2600-2800 convertor and rebuilt 4L60.
Weirdos ?
That should run well especially compared to stock. Haven't seen that cam used much I think 99.8% of people with 5.3s just stick to the 212/218. If you aren't running dual springs I definitely wouldn't want more lift.
I bought ls6 springs for that cam. I would've upgraded those had I changed the cam. This will be my commuter vehicle now. I drive 100 miles round trip to work, every day. When I originally ordered the cam, I was more concerned with longevity than maxing out the power. Then the heads came in to play. I think it'll suit my needs. I'm keeping manifolds and everything. Want it to sound pretty much stock. I can always change it if I get a wild hair.
I didn't notice how slow it was until I got the yukon. Its night and day. Hoping to get a little closer to that.
Switching to manifolds?? .05??my mpg went up by like 5

I’m curious as well. Be nice to be in the 19-20 range but that’s probably wishful thinking. With DOD turned off, it was getting around 16-16.5 before. I’m excited to see your thoughts on the heads. Main thing is the valve stem height being the sameI would like to switch back to manifolds, but with a turbo on them lol. Quiet is very nice especially on a 100mile round trip everyday! I'm curious to see how MPG comes into play.

If you get 19-20 I'll yank this damn 6.0 out and put a 5.3 in lol.
My yukon will get 20-21 with a 6.2
It got up to 23 on the way back from Denver. Nice tail wind. Thats pen and paper maths not DIC math

Feel free to ship that scrap over this way. [emoji16][emoji106]If you get 19-20 I'll yank this damn 6.0 out and put a 5.3 in lol.
So I need a bigger motor then?
No doubt the Yukon MPG is due to the better trans and DI. I don't want to mess with the DI engines anytime soon.

OhEmGee! I forgot how great working on good ole American-made Tahoes is. Did a catless downpipe on a 2013 Hyundai Veloster last night and it took 7 hours....... That did include a 2-hour trip running around town trying to find O2 sensors because the original were completely seized but still it was a terrible job. Even worse the car is still slow as crap and now it sounds worse, just can't keep kids from ruining stuff lol.
Si, always bigger
Yea, 10 speed is nice. It did shock me though. Trans and not working so hard to pull it around. Dads 2012 avalanche with 6 speed does pretty good as well. Been so long since I driven it, I think it was in the 19-20 range.
We'll see in a few weeks![]()
I get 24-25 at 60mph, 22-23 at 65, 20-21 at 70, 18-19 at 75 and 16 at 90. Cammed and 3.73 with a 4L60E.
Tyler's is an Avalanche, so it's bigger and I'd expect about 1mpg less
I bet all the spark plugs on that Veloster are easy to reach, though.![]()
You guys are pissing me off with those good numbers! Why can't I get better than 14-15!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I do get 17 on the highway but that's trying hard)
