5.3 V8 valve spring issues?

After following the other thread where you explain your fuel problems. I experienced the exact same issue this weekend, got text & e-mail from On-Star after the vehicle wouldn't start. Tried starting a handful of times there after with the engine turning and eventually turning over to die. Waited until Monday to get it up to the dealership we bought it from, and it fired right up with the check engine light on. Got it to the service center and the rep saw the engine light. By the time it got back to the actual shop the check engine light had turned off, and there was no historical code stored in any of the vehicle's systems. Driving it back to the house I noticed it wasn't running the smoothest, but I have no clue what to do now that there is no historical code and the service department saying they can't find any problems.... fingers crossed we don't got caught in a bad spot. Looked in the spots referenced and turns out it was built in July.

Spoke with a local dealer today and they told me if the CEL was not on, they can't replace the springs. The TSB seems to read that way as well. Typical GM, but it appears they would rather replace a few engines here or there rather than thousands and thousands of valve springs.

Ya shit like that is why I decided to turn mine in via the Lemon Law or offer GM the opportunity to buy it back without legal action. My dealer said they would swap out the springs but GM won't budge until you blow your engine. Turns out that 32 day repair for the fuel pump and fuel pump control module was the best thing that could have happened. GM is a few days late on their answer. If I don't hear from them by Monday the 11th we sign the representation agreement for our lawyers. The only bad thing is that Lemon Law process start to finish takes 6 to 8 months. Looks like I will be getting a 2022 Tahoe or Jeep Grand Wagoneer in place of our 2021.

UPDATE------ Well today GM gave me an answer. They stated they will not be buying my vehicle back since it has been repaired and stated they will not do anything with my engine for the valve spring issue until one of them fails. I stated that we will be moving forward with our States's Lemon Law protection and will sign our Lawyers representation paperwork today. I spoke with our lawyer today for close to an hour. She stated that buybacks are rare with GM and said a cash settlement is their approach most of the time. I stated that would be fine as long as the settlement gets us back up to our purchase price when added to the sale or the trade in of our vehicle. She stated our case is strong due to the time it was out of service and was confident we would be happy once a settlement is reached. She said it would most likely stay out of court and we would have a settlement before summer. Michigan's Lemon Law also requires GM to foot the entire bill for our legal fees so there is no risk taking advantage of the law on the books. I will keep you all posted on this process. Hopefully you folks won't have to go through this but i am confident in the end everything will work out. We are going to start driving the Tahoe again since the mileage has been noted at the time of the repair and the filing of our case. Hopefully the engine holds up.

I didnt know about the new wagoneer. Just looked them up and boy do they look nice. I have avoided 2021 GM full size because I like seeing the kinks worked out on a new setup but the way they are handling things is near the same as how they handled the brake issues on the past body style and how they seem to handle everything lately. F the customer and the risk and not act until forced. Im about burnt out on GM and I have been a lifelong fan. I regret trading my 2015 ram 2500 back in 2016. I may move back into a Chrysler product again seeing that thing.

I hear ya. The timing will be good if our case drags into summer. If they do get forced into a buy back my Vette will be available as a daily driver until the salt hits the road in the late fall. That should be plenty of time to order a new 2022 vehicle( jeep or chevy) . If they settle for cash compensation I will list mine for sale and might come out ahead instead of doing trade in at the dealer. Hopefully the engine holds together until summer.

I hear ya! Wish I would have held on to my 2019 Ram Laramie for another year and then compared the Yukon with a Wagoneer. MY Ram's interior was awesome, extremely quiet with no annoying creaks and squeaks like the Yukon.

I hear ya! Wish I would have held on to my 2019 Ram Laramie for another year and then compared the Yukon with a Wagoneer. MY Ram's interior was awesome, extremely quiet with no annoying creaks and squeaks like the Yukon.

I loved mine. All black and looked new when traded. Got 49k for it after a year and 36k miles when I paid 55k for it. The cummins pulled my camper beautifully and I had free oil changes for life. On top of that the 2 complaints I had were quickly addressed. Hood liner had a white residue get all over it. Chrysler sent a new one out promptly and replaced it. Also when I first got it I towed 14k to Nashville and it did not want to downshift and spool up long hills. A quick updated flash of the trans and engine controllers fixed that. The 1st year with my Tahoe had constant issues that were a struggle.
