Changed the rear diff fluid earlier. So far this has been my least favorite job - I'd rather do the spark plugs again. Forgot to drop the spare tire which wasn't an issue until I had to refill the oil. My harbor freight transfer pump had kicked the bucket on the front diff (which was its first use) so I had to refill by hand.

Didn't have much room to hold the bottle directly against the fill hole, so my solution was to add a foot of vinyl tubing and angle it up between the spare and the rear quarter panel. This worked ok but the hose slipped out once and left a mess on the driveway. Should've put cardboard down, but oh well.
That sure beats wearing that stuff. Especially when it’s worn down your entire sleeve and inside your the rubber gloves you have on. Smells delicious and doesn’t seem to wash off for months. Buy yourself the Lisle transfer pump and/or the fluid pump designed to screw onto the top of gear oil bottles. Don’t buy the cheap one...if you want to know why (see the first part of this message).

When you change your transmission fluid it should be all black and sparkly looking correct? Ha! Holy smokes was I shocked and disappointed in waiting this long. Hell, You could mix the gear oil from either differential together with the Mobil 1 5W30 inside the oil filter and still pour out a cleaner, more clear liquid than the $hit I just sucked out of my transmission. Now I’m scared to drop the pan, but I know my Denali will thank me when I’m done.

*FYI: I did have a broken trans dipstick tube so how much of that dark tint is the result of dust and dirt from the roads?

Here is proof to any of the new owners or young guys out there who might consider “nah ill get to it later”, or “it can wait until the weather warms up”. Nope! I’m sure glad that I didn’t wait any longer on this fluid/filter change.

Did you rub Vaseline on your camera lens or do you just have an IPhone?...o_O:p;)
I’ll take my iPhone over a spy-bot google tracking android device any day of the week. And any of you guys with the Facebook app or google chrome on your smart phones...just burn them.

Can rpo code UFT be added to my truck? Found a set of mirrors I’d like to use but have DL3 and UFT. Hope I can use them.

My Harbor Freight pump looked just like that Slippery Pete one (and cost the same) but the housing was too large to fit in the tapered gear oil bottles. I cut a bigger opening and could fit in that way but it was inconvenient to say the least. And then the pump handle separated just as I finished the front diff.

Did you know HF doesn't even accept pump returns in store? They have a form you email to their customer service and you then get an automatic refund...speaks a lot to their quality control :D

I have always had Android phones, well not always, I originally had a Motorola brick/flip phone. Anyway, I run unlocked and rooted with custom ROMs and such... I don't do "the Facebook" or use Google Chrome either... I'm with ya ;)

Man the both of you are wrong. As long as you have a smartphone everyone is tracking you. Get over it. Big data is what runs the world now.

So my factory DVD nav unit went out today. Anyone have any advise on one that I can still use back up camera, XM, DVD and navigation (not so important since I use Waze) and Onstar without breaking the bank?

They track everything, what channel you watch on tv, what you do on the internet, where you drive your car, where you spend your money, etc, etc. the information is sold for a profit.
it's been that way that for decades. The more electronics you have around you the more information they get. Alexa and other devices listen 24/7 if you think it's just google and facebook sticking there nose in your business you are sadly mistaken.

Remember when TVs started coming with webcams and microphones? The EULA on those TVs allowed them to listen and record.

Things like this is why it's so important to check fluids regularly. Not just the capacity, but the color/condition also.
