Love the look of this option on the Sierra, and being it is available for the Yukon and XL, we were looking into adding it.

I’ve found several eBay auctions for the item, all from gm parts dealers, and one of them has been extremely helpful in providing me the installation instructions for not only the emblem, but also the instructions to remove the entire front bumper fascia. These instructions are referenced in the emblem install. My SLT has the fascia extension also, so we’re talking 17 pages of instructions just for the bumper fascia removal, which is a TON of work!!! I was hoping to be able to just remove the grill itself to access behind it. I guess being a former wrangler owner, I have been spoiled with grill removal ease.

As per the instructions, the wiring harness needs to be routed from the driver’s side headlight to the center of the fascia stiffening tube, where the female connector would be available to plug in the already installed illuminated emblem on the grill.

So, my question is, have any of you looked into doing this? I would imagine Tahoe/suburban/Yukon install is similar, if not the same. Realistically, I’m hoping I can remove the air inlet grill panel retainer and the grill itself so that I can zip tie the harness to the fascia stiffing tube as per the instructions. I don’t even want to venture a guess as to how much labor this would cost me on a dealer install...but it’s definitely going to be at least the cost of the kit itself.

thanks in advance! If anyone would like to take a look at the instructions shoot me a PM I’ll be glad to share!

I put one on my Silverado, the grill comes off rather easily though and I just fed the wire over to the headlight and fastened it down on the back of the grill, not sure how the grill is on the 2021 but usually they just have clips on the inside which can be pried open with pick tools.

It would be cool to wire in a small battery and a diode so that the logo stays on for a few hours after you shut down. :)

In an interesting turn of events...seems like these kits are drying up fast. I had one in my cart on eBay that was $308 and it has now jumped to $1,300.

my dealer’s parts department told me that although there is inventory, there is some sort of hold on them that will not allow orders.

anyone have any insight on this?

no idea on the hold from gm, but what some ebay sellers will do is raise the price to something completely absurd when they are out of inventory in order to keep the listing status on the internet servers, then when the item is back in stock they put the price back to normal, otherwise if the listing ends then so does the online search status, when you have to do a new listing it takes time for it be found and for the web crawlers to find it and point to it.

Ah...Makes sense! I ordered my kit today, will post updates when it arrives and my progress in trying to get this installed without removing the grill.

Absolutely. I have not received it yet, and I have a feeling it may be LPO as this seller is someone I’ve bought from before and has shipped very quickly, this time, not happening.

From what I can tell from the instructions, the emblem is the same depth as the stock one, and there is a male connector on the back.

The one thing you may run into an issue with is I believe the LED emblem is one piece, as opposed to the 3 piece G, M and C that is stock, not sure how the clips would align, might require some imagination on your end.

also the power harness is plug and play, if I get out today and get a chance to look around the front end, I’ll take a pic of the headlight harness so you can compare to yours. From what I’ve read, that plug feeds the emblem harness which is split into two for headlight and emblem power.

to put one on my 2012 I am pretty sure it's going to require some modification of my grill which is fine because the newer GMC emblem is larger then the old one, attaching it should be no problem and I put the same kind of thing on my Silverado the wire to the led is positive negative I can just tie into accessory power, piece of cake.
on that note when you receive your emblem it may arrive like my 18 silverado emblem did with 2 loose wires that you will need to pin into the connector, so before you pin the connector check to be sure which side is positive/negative on the vehicle end with a meter because once you stick those pins in the harness they are a real ***** to get out and swap the other way if you get it wrong.
