Not. Good. At. All.

What does the cylinder look like?
It was up in the air so I couldn't see, but I'm assuming the worst case scenario.20200914_144242.jpg
Piston top broke at the wrist pin. Was banging around in the cylinder.

Good news is--anyone want a free block lol?

Son of a.......

What’s the mechanic saying about a path to resolution and who’s responsible for what?

No conclusion on that yet--but he knows where I stand--and I reminded him. He's supposedly going to look at an 03 Escalade tonight for the motor--complete truck for $80]. Says it'll be easier and cheaper to swap the complete bottom end, and to use my parts. Don't know for sure yet.

Pulled the front CV axles today, getting ready to pull the front diff but not in a hurry- the rebuilt one is not scheduled to arrive for a week. I need a pitman arm puller, probably get a loan-a-tool.

excellent. I priced out a weather tech one and it was ~143$!

what did this run you?

Been a while since I did it... $30? It wasn't much

If I was going to do it again I would use something more like this

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rubber-...er-Flooring-24-sq-ft-03-206-W100-06/301919682

The mat I have is thick and it is made from recycled rubber. It doesn't bend very well and it can actually break apart if it is folded. This looks like it would work better. 4 ft should be enough. If you want enough to cover the back seats when they are folded down get 6ft.
