Well that was fun, had to take the gear apart twice because it was jammed up or something, had to improvise to get the spring off with some sleeves because my vice isn't big enough but got it done, works slow and wimpy but better than nothing at all, old gear was cracked

My gear was in three pieces. It's a little slower than the driver's side now and much louder but works. Every man needs a big vise! I've got a Pre 1940 Columbia, a four inch and 3.5 inch Craftsmans from the 1980s and a couple of hobby grade ones for modelling. Also have parts for a wood vise for my next work bench.

As for the other popular discussion going on, we're a Cottonelle family here with a big shout out to Dude Wipes! LOL

I have 4 kids in the house and they get stupid with TP but we don't go thru 4 rolls a day, lol

thinking about doing the mirror gear today since the weather is nice
1 roll last about 1 week for me unless i have a running nose but i do use those to prevent splash back if was going to take a poop or piss

it's called recycling

stocked up as well way way before the virus thing

back when we had that 6.4 and 7.1 in ridgecrest

got at lest 13 cases of water and lots of wipes and TP 100+ rolls

(as if there is an Eathquake we will have no water for a while. 3-6 months or so)...
13 cases is only good for the first or two week or so though between 7 people, it's in regular rotation so it can get down to 6 cases or so minimum

sooner or later the San Andreas is going to rip open

the last time the most southern section ripped open was 1680.. so it has plenty of build up to be released

more then likely the will produce a MegaQuake as the whole entire fault will rip open from San Diego to San Francisco

ya if the andreas fault goes all power lines that crossover it into so. cal would break and it would take them months to fix, I live on the east side of the calaveras fault which is part of the far northern end of the andreas it's about 20 minutes away so where I am at we would likely be fine, if it goes you would probably see a lot of people leaving california for a while which would be a good thing ;)

honestly i'm very tempted to go on a trip right now as the price is cheap enough to drive 2k miles it would only cost me 200-220$ for gas

Get ya a harbor frieght case. Also double check to see if ya power car adapter works. Mine powers up, but doesn't produce enough power to turn the tech 2 on. Its not a big deal, i use the the battery clip one

I tested mine out and the OBD port does power up the tech2. I didn't have a lot of time to mess with it yet, but I tried a few things out. I increased the alternator output and watched the volt gauge climb, commanded the lights on, watched the O2 sensors which I think may be lazy, and commanded the cooling fans to run. It's damp and cold today, I'll mess with it more tomorrow

The only time you would need the car 12 v adapter would be to program modules in which case I would suggest using the 120v adapter anyway. Otherwise like you discovered you can just power it through the obd port.

My Tech-2 does not have enough "power" to stay on when the engine is started, it resets. This could be avoided with external power (plugged at the Candi Module for GMT900) and maybe from the cigar lighters. 99% of the time it gets power from the OBDII port.

Drove it the ~550 miles home from eastern Tennessee with the family and luggage/gear. Cruise set at 80 most of the way, sometimes would go a bit faster, 85-90 for a bit. Average mpg got up to 17 for a bit but pretty much stayed on 16.8. Engine rpms were about 2k, maybe a couple hundred more.

I love that even with it loaded down as it was and at those speeds it has gobs of power. Going up and over mountains it would downshift, but the rpms stayed under 3k and I was able to pass everyone.. Lol
