4 cans brake clean, wire brush, sponge, and detergent 1.5 hours later. What a mess. It's not perfect but will do. At least I won't catch a disease handling this pan.

Also I found the 15mm bolts into the bell housing don't match. I wonder if my trans gas been out in the past.

I used a razor and scotch brite. This is my first oil pan gasket replacement.

Is that surface clean enough for the gasket?

How much black rtv, just in the corners?

The oil pickup tube just fell out. That seal was doing fudge all to seal.

Y'all need to do this if you have high miles.
