I didn't experience anything as random as that. It was either an all or nothing type of deal.

What issues are you experiencing?
The list is long and the issues are somewhat intermittent but mostly present: Remote start range is bad, sometimes won't work at all. passive entry is slow, somtimes I need to put my crotch up to the door for it to read the FOB - If you see me doing this it's OK to laugh. Start/stop - sometimes says "no FOB detected", sometimes won't turn off. Occasionally I'll get a "no FOB detected" while I'm driving. Occasionally while I'm driving I'll get random pop-up messages of every one in the system memory, A few times I've had the one or two of the TPS display's just show a "dash". I feel that sometimes there is what feels like an ignition misfire at high load, high RPM. Sometimes not. Some days the foot sensor for the tailgate works well, other days it won't work at all. To make matters worse, my "secret door" in the radio stack was making grinding noises, so the dealer replaced it under warranty - Great except for the "tech" scratched up my trim around both sides of the radio stack and punched a hole in the front face of the dashboard material (That was early January). The service manager pretended to be very concerned, but has not returned a phone call or email since early January. On Monday I'm calling the GM or the dealership.

That's awful about the radio replacement and damage obviously done when removing the trim. Where is the hole punched exactly? Sometimes I feel a sort of hiccup or random vibration at idle, when in gear, say, stopped at a stop light. It's hard to say what that is exactly. I've read a lot of online conversations and perhaps that's just how direct injection is. I have been accustomed to fuel injection up until this point.

However, ALL of your other issues seem to be related to key fob reception. Awhile back I read a TSB about the receiver needing to be replaced. Your symptoms sound very similar.

I had the SB done in January - might have helped a little, not sure. The hole is in the edge of the dash cover just to the right of the radio stack. Must have been a sharp edge on the new radio that caught as he slammed it in to place.

So they replaced that receiver module in January? Or what did the invoice say they did?

I put the VIN of the used Esky in google and it showed the past owners. Yes, I actually spoke to the last 2 owners and they were quite helpful w/ the history back to 09.

Some states have ****** privacy laws and the state that sold the vehicle I bought was one of them. Google the VIN and cross fingers.

sealandsky, I can't believe this is still going on. I don't know if the part # changed in the TSB but maybe you could check yours. I wonder if the Dealers have a tool that can check signal strength. That is just insane all the problems and then damage what they work on. Hope you get a chance to talk to the GM and he is responsive to the situation.

Nah, I saw that you purchased it from Carmax as a preloved truck. I was suggesting that you google the VIN to see if the past owner shows up on the internet. Another option to reach the previous owner is ask Carmax for a copy of the title for your insurance company. Sometimes the past owner shows up on the paperwork. You really need to get hold of the past owner to see what issues they had. It will help you cure what's wrong or hold Carmax accountable for selling a vehicle to you knowing it was ripe.

Carmax in Irvine, CA (SoCal) didn't allow me to test drive a White 06 Denali XL back in '14. They tried to get me to sign the paperwork and I had to walk away from the desk to take a test drive. The alignment on the front end was so far off it was evident an employee crashed it. There's no way Carmax would take a trade in when the driver had to pull with 5-10lb force on the wheel to keep the truck driving straight. I was so pissed off they played dumb about it and underplayed it I told them I'd report it to Carfax. They said ok.

After Carfax verified the report on the front end, Carmax's solution was to ship it 150 miles away to San Diego. Six month later they sold it at auction to a Mama Papa lot close to the border. Not sure what happened to it after that.

The previous owner was the Hertz rental company.

Like I said, the last time the vehicle was in, General Motors replaced the ECM as well as found a ground wire (G141) that was full of undercoating and perhaps making a poor contact.

I really hope these two fixes eliminate this issue from ever re-occurring. I have been in contact with a Chevrolet customer service liaison so trust me, this is well documented. If the issue presents itself again I will call them again.

Not to be light and easy on the issue but my thought is there can only be so many things that can cause the issue, so eventually it will have to be straightened out. It can't be infinitely endless. At least I hope not.

I did reach out to Carmax and as of last week they were giving me an additional 30 days to make up my mind if I wish to return the vehicle, which I felt was exceptional of them to do considering I was well past the initial 7 day return period. I don't think they're a poor company if they're willing to bend their back like that to help a customer out. For now I've decided against returning it for various reasons.

I've mentioned before I believe, our immediate family has had a couple of Carmax cars have have all been pretty good.

Of the list:

A 2011 Nissan Altima (My wife's car that I bought and then sold a few months back)
A 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 4.3 V6 (Father in law's truck, traded for his 2018 Silverado 5.3 V6)
A 2015 Nissan Sentra (Stepson's vehicle)
My most recent 2019 GMC Yukon

All of them were ex-rentals, although generally they had less miles (below 20,000) than my Yukon at the time they were purchased.

The list goes on a bit longer than that but these are the cars I've had an interest in seeing personally throughout the most recent years.

I think generally Carmax will auction their trade-ins that are not fleet or rental vehicles, which they do purchase from auction.
