My 2002 Escalade with the BB tune, Araid MIT, AEM Dry Flow, Magnaflow muffler and 3.73 gears is getting close to 18mpg on long trips. It drives great and I’m really impressed with these basic mods.

When I tow my 24ft enclosed trailer between 7 and 7,500 lbs or my flatbed 20 ft trailer at about 5,000 lbs I get between 8 and 9mpg.

It pulls the trailers great, I’m sure mainly due to the tune, but does that mpg sound right for a 6.0 towing?

Also, would it be possible to set the clutch to be able lock at 50mph in 3rd in Tow/Haul mode? I think it’s set close to 60 now.

Would there be any benefit in doing a data log under towing conditions?

Thanks for the help with my Escalade, your pre-tune diagnostics really saved me a lot of time troubleshooting to get it runnng well.

Thanks for the review. We are happy you are enjoying the tune.

Mpgs, as you probably already know, are based on fuel quality, octane, condition on the vehicle, foot on the pedal, and what you are using the vehicle for. For your vehicle we would recommend 91+ octane. You can always send in another datalog for the tuner to review, to make sure everything looks good.

In regards to the clutch, you would have to email as well, so the tuner can answer that one.

When we have you datalog, you do not need to tow or pull anything, you just need to get x amount of drive time in, some WOT for a few seconds at a time, and varying rates of acceleration and speed.

Let us know if you need anything else.

Thank you for taking the time to respond, I will followup with an email.

I still cannot believe how smooth my Escalade is running after your tune.

Got to test towing with the tow / haul mode adjustment and it worked perfctly. I was towing my 20ft flatbed but wasn’t loaded like usual with my Polaris Ranger Crew but the torque converter lock up worked just like I wanted. So nice to work with a company like Black Bear.

8 to 9 seems good. I towed a 32 foot tt with 2011 denali and it got 7.5. I "upgraded" to a 8.1 2500 suburban with 4.10s and get 8 to 9...but without a trailer I get like 10 lol

I just did the same, got a 2001 Suburban 2500 8.1 and just sent in the scan to Blackbear for a tune, super excited to see how that does after my experience with the Escalade!!

So far loving the Suburban, especially since my trailer slowly bloated to around 8,500 lbs and I was having a really hard time keeping my RAW under 4,000 lbs.
