Hi, I'm new to the forum and wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing this issue and having delays due to backorders and the current strike. I have a '15 Yukon Denali XL with the 6.2L engine. Recently I noticed a clicking sound coming from the passenger side of the engine so I took it in to the dealer. They found that I have a bent pushrod involving cylinder 3 and it was due to a faulty lifter. It is still under powertrain warranty so they have to follow protocol to repair and apparently that includes additional work in which they have to open the cylinder. They are able to get all parts except for the head gasket which is supposedly on indefinite back order. I dropped it off 2 weeks ago to the day and they state that there is no delivery date in sight and most recently state the GM workers are on strike so they truly have no idea when they will get the part. I was wondering if others are experiencing a similar issue currently.

They did give me a courtesy vehicle, but it is smaller than my Yukon XL which made camping this weekend more difficult. Also, I own a boat and have been unable to do anything with it since I am without my tow vehicle. Very inconvenient for owning a $72,000 vehicle which I bought new and have had all the maintenance performed. I have had numerous other issues with the vehicle including multiple this summer. I'm just not sure what to do from here. I think it's unacceptable that they can't even give a date.

Unfortunately, this is a strike, a work stoppage that the dealership has no control over. The only folks who will control the time table for the strike are GM and the UAW. And, we are left in the middle. Can’t get parts and in some cases can’t get vehicles that have been ordered because shipments are blocked.

Don't be held hostage by a warranty, fix it yourself or drag it to another shop.

Ask your dealer to search for the part in other dealers inventory. I was successful with that technique last week.

It’s times like this that expose the dealers interested in helping customers and those who are interested in taking advantage of an opportunity to charge more for stuff.

I would also call around yourself. I have read where some less than scrupulous dealers are starting to price gouge other dealers and their customers. Others are holding parts and refusing to sell to another dealerships.

I have a 2018 Yukon Denali with the 6.2 with 29k miles bought new and the dealer has been sitting on it since 9/4 due to lifter failure and head gasket on backorder...with no end in sight. GM Customer Service continue to say they can't help with finding a Head Gasket either and is not willing to offer extended warranty to guarantee longer term reliability until the dealer determines extent of damage.

Should I get rid of this thing while there is still some value? This is my first GM in a long time (three f150's prior) and will likely be my last. I'm trying to determine what to do with the Yukon once I finally get it back. I'm thinking either a 2500 without AFM or Toyota Sequoia or Tundra with the 5.7 for reliability. Below is a link to a video of ticking prior to dropping off at dealer.

I'm assuming your replacement parts delays are due to the GM strike. I'd recommend pushing you dealer to acquire the needed parts from another dealer, or the secondary market. Who knows how long the strike will continue...

I’ve got a 2015 Yukon Denali 4wdrive. 77,000. Lifter failure and back ordered head gasket. They gave me a loaner but it’s not my Yukon. Strike has been over for a week and no joy. I don’t know about any other resulting damage but I’m concerned about the same thing happening again because they haven’t said anything else about it. I keep waiting and not happy. I own a 2004 Yukon xl Denali with 240,000 and it keeps on running, obviously they don’t make them like they used to
