I don't have access to air so I gotta drive about 10 minutes to the gas station. what's a good "hot" psi for a 285/45/22. max tire psi is 50. the door has cold psi up to 20's

I run 35 but I have 305/40/22. If I’m going to do a lot of highway driving or towing I’ll bump it up a little. When my light comes on I usually have 25 or so but once I drive a few miles the light goes off. Get yourself a small compressor for under $50.

Tires typically pick up 3-5 psi from cold to hot; speed, time of day and climate are the main factors. Setting them cold, before the sun is beating on one side, gets you a most accurate setting for all four. Our new home faces east so the tires on the south side get hot first and are the hottest while the right front/north west tire remains the coolest all day.

For those with a Tech-2, you can get all the tires within a half pound of each other by using the DIC AND Tech-2 to set air pressure. It can be a pain sometimes and may require the patience of a parent but well worth the smooth ride on the highway afterwards. When the left differs from the right more than a few pounds the truck feels like she's trying to drive in two different directions. I believe this is amplified for those running LT tires compared with P-Metric radials.

I used a digital gauge and set it to 35 and the dic read it as 34 so I'm 1 pound off

Unless you are using nitrogen. Then the two are not supposed to be that different.

I was just wondering because you said when yours go down to 25 the light comes on then goes back out

Usually in fall or spring when we get goofy weather changes like 35 degrees cooler than yesterday but it is usually the same one front left
