Advice on paint for bumper and wheels

hey guys looking for advice on what paint i should get for the bumpers and wheels. im doing the front bumper first from the grill down. i know the chrome has to get etched primer my question is what paint should i use for after i got from the etched primer---primer---????. i want it to be black, like a light glosse nothing crazy shiny, but theres so much choice out there ant suggestions? looking for suggestions on wheel paint too, those can be straight glossy when i get to them.

What year and model? Is it a steel bumper or bumper cover? For the color it sounds like satin would work. For the wheels duplicolor makes a wheel paint or you could use the new wrap paint.

2004 tahoe LT 5.3 i did plastidip satin and it came out nice just mad faded. i would like that look. theyre chrome bumpers with black and plastic it seems. i know i gotta etch prime the chrome part. just want to know the best rattle can i can gt for the black. a satin black would be good with a low gloss topcoat no? suggesstions?

You aren't going to etch prime chrome, without scuffing it up, first. Hit it with a flapper disc on your angle grinder, to give the primer some 'tooth'.

I plan to just buy a primered bumper and paint. Given the work/time involved?
It's a faster way to go and you can always sell the stock bumper.

Good idea. No down time that way. They now sell coating in gloss but I don’t think you’ll need that just some good duplicolor satin for low shine or gloss for lots. Don’t forget to clear coat bumpers take a beating

Chrome is hard to get stuff to stick to. Mine was scuffed with 80 grit then done with adhesion promoter, epoxy primer, base, then clear.

Yea actually a few. I’ll be doing touch ups soon then a clear bra

yea im gonna try all this and if all else fails im gonna just plastidip over it.

would you guys reccomend the exact product for the black paint on bumper? what yall think about this brand?

what brand and exact can have yall seen with good results on alumnium rims for primer/black gloss paint? im very back and forth with these stuff hard to pick right stuff links would help alot

Honestly, if you’re using a chrome part, I’d wrap it all day. Chrome doesn’t accept paint very well and the highway will destroy all your hard work one tiny chip at a time.

As you can see I installed aftermarket grille from eBay and painted the chrome grille surround black as well.

Depending on color you should wrap it. I wanted to wrap mine but nobody had a color in stock that would match my indigo blue metallic
