Was in Dallas visiting family, Had $$$ burning in my pocket and was in market for another back up SUV and wanted to grab something before the "tax time buyers" hit

SO...................................... after looking a several turds AKA junk "auction flips"

Picked up LOADED 01 1500 autoride 2WD with 246K miles for $1400 cash

Owner said he needed cash for bills and wife got a new equinox ??

Has new LT BF goodrich tires, Battery, Sunroof, Rear DVD system, G80, GT4, stupid rare Z55 chassis

So far noticed it needed wipers, oil/fluids changed, ABS/Brake light on, bad upper radiator hose and needs Camshaft position sensor.

Aside from a few stain on carpet and a funny mildew smell. interior is nice !!! Driver seat is 8 out of 10 !!! No metal visible in seat frame lol

"My half glass full" side still wondering if this was a SCORE or to good to be true ??

Doesn't look too bad, hopefully it's a score and the problem with the abs light is nothing serious. Congrats.

For the price, you can put money in it and still come ahead..... But...

"...that mildew smell"..... I hope it wasn't a flood causing that smell.....

If they avoided an insurance loss & dried it out themselves, there won't be a 'salvage title'.
( Insurance loss would have been a low settlement)

The abs/brake can likely be fixed easy by removing the module and resoldering the joints. Free fix!

if they shampooed it and didn't dry it out properly that could be the source of the odor, alternatively if a window or windows were left open and it got rained on for a while that could also be a reason why, if you want to check for flood damage take off a door panel and look inside and/or pull up some of the carpet

ya forgot to mention, One of the rear windows doesnt work and the guy had new regulators in a box not yet installed

I'm thinking one of the windows was stuck down for some time, rain water/moisture got in and caused the mildew smell and then they "fixed" up the window

Lots of dirt and debris inside the rear hatch and door jabs ???

all of that to me would mean it probably sat somewhere for a extended period of time, it's normal for dirt to get in the cracks & crevices especially the doors jams if you don't clean them it just accumulates I clean mine every 3-4 months probably, I give them a thorough cleaning with 409 & paper towels or a soft rag/towel

Meh.........so far have/will have to replace/fix following

Air/Cabin filters
all 3 wipers
Upper radiator hose
CSP sensor
Rotors/Pads front/back
Alignment
shocks
Battery. Previous clown put in a basic 75 Autozone 550CCA battery :/
Transmission service( Filter/Gasket/Fluid)
Rear Diff service

Luckily I get my parts at cost and my mechanic does most jobs for $20 hour lol

She's gonna be a "$2000" score here soon lol

If you haven't done them yet,

The brakes: Look into the "NNBS brake upgrade" for the front. Its a slightly larger but much thicker rotor, with a 2 piston caliper and a larger pad. You need the caliper with bracket, rotor, and pad to match, but if you were going to upgrade anyways its a very small price increase for the improved braking. Its a simple replace with the new parts/zero modding needed upgrade.

Shocks: depending on what you got, and what you want out of it, this is the time to delete those expensive self leveling shocks.
