Be careful jacking up your AWD

just to make sure i understand, your yukon was parked like the pickup in your sig, u jacked the front and it rolled forward? did it roll a little or a lot like u think it wouldnt have stopped?

it ROLLED and I kinda fubard one of my skid plates because my dam jack is too hard to release, I didn't notice the front tires spinning either, the only thing I can add to this is that my parking brake needs to be adjusted I guess I drove around on it for a couple days about a month or so ago and I haven't adjusted it yet, I didn't have it on of course to test if it rolled, so unless the awd utilizes the parking brake in some manner then it is what it is.

Called my local dealer and verified this is normal for the AWD, once the wheels are out of bind its a free for all, guess I was just lucky jacking it up before that it didn't roll away on me

Maybe I just grew up in the days of manual transmissions when all it took was hitting the shifter accidentally and it was rolling but I've never jacked up a car without blocking the wheel on the opposite corner. Working under a car is dangerous enough as it is. Glad nobody got hurt here.

Guess no need for me to explain it? On another note if one of the CV axles break our SUVs are dead in the water. I really do not like this design.

Guys always block tires when jacking up your vehicles no matter 2wd/4wd/awd and jack stands also ,most of these jack are made in China only a rubber seal holding the weight!!!!!

Always chock the wheels opposite the end your jacking up especially on a incline just a good practice!

Went to change the oil on my wife's new 07 escalade AWD the other day and our driveway has a slight slope to it. As soon as the front tires came off the ground it started rolling down the hill. None of the 2wd will do this so it surprised me. Be sure to set your E brake!

Same thing happened to me a few years ago and it scared the shit out of me. Lesson learned.

My 07 Denali acts like a 2wd when jacking. In park the front spins (forgot to loosen lug nuts once) but rear doesn’t since it’s always connected to trans via drive shaft. The parking brake holds all in place. Glad you weren’t hurt. Try turning truck horizontal with drain plug on low side and use jack stands.

Oh my g-d, that's terrible.

I have been using my parking brake for years in every vehicle I've owned, its just habit. Regardless whether on flat or inclined surface. I would never NOT use it especially working under it. That's just crazy.
Like someone else said to always chock the wheels to.

A friend of mine had a very bad experience under a vehicle where the jacks gave way on uneven surface. He was lucky to make it out, granted he got knocked out and had a nice bump and gouge taken out of his forehead but, he's alive.

Whenever I work under my Tahoe, not only do I chock the wheels but I also use large 10x10 or 12x12 blocks that I stack under the frame incase the jacks fail. rather be safe than sorry.

For a while after buying ours the parking brake did not work, we chalked the wheels, even when on the ramps. My driveway is at an incline, not flat at all so carelessness can be fatal.

Yeah I did it like a week ago taking my drive shaft out and as soon as I popped it off my truck rolled back I was on a good Hill too it rolled back right on top of my foot / ankle leg it was not good
