07+ Brake upgrade on a 00-06 NBS, is it worth it?

The drilled and slotted rotors on my truck work great. Back in 2010, I've gone from stock rotors to the drilled and slotted and that alone was a huge upgrade. Then a few months back I replaced them yet again and swapped the stock size drilled and slotted for the 07 drilled and slotted which was another improvement. Not as big as an improvement as I was hoping for,a but it was definitely a noticeable difference. And I don't have hydroboost. I've considered rounding up all the parts and doing the hydroboost upgrade, but at the moment I am pretty satisfied with the way my truck stops so it's not a priority.

What parts would be involved for the swap?

All you need are the calipers and caliper mounting brackets. I have the R-1 E line drilled and slotted and the 07 front brakes for around 3-4 years with no cracks or warping and the rotor hats have no rust. With the 4 rotors, 2 front calipers, brackets, pads and SS lines up front i spent just over $500. It was worth every cent.

What Sasquatch said. You need the 07+ calipers and brackets, the 07 rotors, and the 07 brake pads. I bought all the parts mentioned above, plus a 5 piece braided SS brake hose set, and I spent just over $500 for ALL of those parts.

No, I already have the 07 brake upgrade, I meant with the hydroboost swap.

fair warning, r1's will rust, but only where the pads touch the rotors. so if left sitting you'll get some rust.

this is after being parked for a month when my tranny went boom. for any one who cares, those are 98-02 camaro fronts on a 98 regal gs, r1's all around. same deal as this upgrade, you take the brackets caliper pads and rotors from the newer car/truck. only this up grade made a night and day difference, single piston to dual and two inch taller rotor is a true upgrade.

Got the R1 carbon Geomet rotors. Waiting on some more parts to do the NNBS upgrade. Really nice rotors and should give my big girl some woah since I already have hydroboost.

@Tonyrodz for hydroboost you need

Hydroboost unit-
2-High pressure hoses
Power steering pump to hydroboost
Hydroboost to steering box
Low pressure return line from hydroboost to pump
T bracket to tie into the pump low pressure return line
Hydroboost brake pedal-pin is at a different angle

04-06 Tahoe/Yukon came factory and I think mine was from GM van. You'll find them for sale on pt.net after a guy nukes his motor or starts parting his truck.

I can't begin to explain how damn happy I am with these brakes!! Thanks to @NORCAL SS for the front calipers from his '11 or 12 Escalade. .. The R1 Carbon Geomet rotors are another level. I can actually make myself light headed when I hit the brakes lol. It takes almost no pedal effort to stop the truck, almost car like. It may be the hydroboost, but I definitely don't see a reason to go BBK.

Some lady jumped in front of me going down the freeway from her stopped lane and what would normally be a panic stop just slowed down real fast!! I blew my horn for the hell of it.. I can tell they like a few stops before really grabbing, but they are new. I would also recommend the Goodridge stainless lines for the rear also. I think these trucks have a lot of grab from the rear brakes. I don't think that center hose is long enough, maybe once lowered.

Yeah, they are the same size as the 07 style. Bolted right up. My cooling fans are for a 13 escalade..GM recycles a lot.

There are two different castings for the 07. I'm not sure why. Maybe they were using old ones for the first half.... Then I believe 08-14 are all the same.

This is why I bought Tony`s. The guessing game was driving me crazy. Err on the safe side and go 08+.
