Folks:

Driver side wiper hose, of my 2008 Denali XL, snapped right at the connection that goes down into the cowling. So you see hose come from the plastic part on the car but the little nub at the cowling is broken. Called local GMC dealer to find out if there is a replacement part that snaps into the cowling and then into the existing hose. He said, looking at the diagram, you have to buy a $30 hose assembly that runs from the wiper to the pump. What the? So that snap part isn't replaceable? Only the entire hose assembly? Sounds like a lot more work than is necessary.

Anyone had this small part break and found a reasonable fix? I'm not as worried about the the $30 as I am the labor to pull the hose from the windshield wiper pump all the way to both wipers. Doesn't sound like fun. While not an all-day job, probably means removing batter, battery cage, wiper fluid tank and a bunch of clips.

Am I wrong?

usually people just slip a rubber vacuum line over the cracked or broken section that fits snug or use a clamp, it's not like it holds some high pressure fluids, it's just washer fluid

Even if you bought the $30 kit why would you have to run all that new hose? Just unplug the old hose at the cowl fitting and plug it in to the new fitting. Is it a hard plastic line that is part of the fitting at the cowl?

Here is the picture of what is actually broken IMG_2386.jpg

My guess is local auto parts stores sell wiper hose "T" connectors and hose. I could just "T" below this broken part and rune a line through that hole in the cowling right up the wiper arm as the one seen.

The Mr. T I know from the original A-Team back in the 80's would have fixed that with an acetylene torch, some brazing rods and some random pipe fittings and hoses and clamps he found in some lost barn. Using his jewelry as wrenches and screwdrivers. And if he couldn't, McGuyver would have stepped in and made him look like a punk.

What 89Sub said. I pity the fool!

Nailed it. My first name is Trevor; however, I was born in the 70s and my Dad used to call me Mr. T--BEFORE the A-team had its show. When it came on TV, and of course I watched it faithfully like every other American boy, I glowed knowing the biggest dude on the show was using MY name ;-)

Lol

This reminded me of an ex-girlfriend's grandpa that always smelled like lemon and industrial soap. Him and grandma slept in separate rooms and he would sneak out of his window at night to go have fun with skanks. He bought Lysol by the case from Sam's Club and would pour two gallons into his bath water because he believed it would kill any "germs" he might've picked up from the girls. He only told his granddaughter (my gf) about the skanks and his bath habits, but grandma knew and just never confronted him. She paid me to install a hidden camera in his room with a monitor and time-lapse VCR in the closet of her quilting room. She also paid me to wear a full black getup and hide in the neighbor's flower beds with a camera to get license plate, face, etc. pics to use in a divorce case. None of that was even admissible and it never went any further. Them two cuckoos are still together.

Oh, he had other uses for the Lysol- he tried to poison her on multiple occasions by pouring it in food he cooked for her. They have money and live in a really nice neighborhood. You'd never suspect anything like this was going on.
