where/how is your GPS mounted?

for those of you with external GPS units (tomtom, garmin, etc) where and how did you mount yours? i dont want it on the windshield. i saw a thread here once where some people mounted it on those dead plastic spaces to the right of the radio (where my traction button is) but cant find the thread and dont know how id det it to stay up there.

im also going to hardwire it in somehow. from what ive read these units run on far fewer volts so simply lopping off the cord and wiring it up will fry it. ill figure that out tomorrow.

my tom tom came with a sticky disk and i stuck the disk to the top of the bottom shelf on the center console so the smooth side was facing down and i took the suction cup and put it to where my tom tom was in front of the top shelf and i put all the wire folded up in the top shelf behind the tom tom. it uses up the top shelf but that thing is to small to put anything there anyway. i love it cause it and the wire is out of the way not blocking any vision of anything and i made the screen blue to match the double den tv. idk if this will work with other gpses cause the way my tom tom was mounted was by a big ring on the back witch made it possible to mount the suction cup upside down but still high enough i can use my bottom shelf.

i think i understand what you mean by top of the bottom shelf but i dont know what shelves. i have the same tom tom you do. the click ring that you can swivel around and all.

can you post some pics?

I just Put mine in the hole where the OnStar button goes, But I didn't have OnStar. Also, What about on the dash, up against the pillar?

yes its the swively ring and sorry i got the description wrong i was a little mixed up when i wrote that. the sticky pad is on the top of the top shelf smooth side facing down and the sticky disk will stick out just a tad but its not notcible and by the way im not a smoker just a pyro and those are playing cards not cigs like everybody thinks

NCSU - how did you do yours? what kind of nav is that? ideally id love to mount mine there.
