I changed out the rear with the 75w90 but the front calls for 80w90 and the only one I could find was a 5 gallon jug. Can I use the same fluid for the front diff as the rear?

i contacted royal purple to find out if using 75-90 would be a problem. this was their reply.
We recommend the RP MaxGear 75W90 part # 01300 for both the front and rear differential. Not sure why GM would do that – as if the back diff specs a 75W (or SAE 75 Winter grade (the W does not stand for weight but ‘winter grade’) with low temp flow performance why wouldn’t you want that for the other end of the truck? Both fluids are SAE 90 weights at operating temp.
Front takes 1.8 quarts and the rear 2.75 quarts.

Thank you! Did you by any chance ask about transfer case and or trans fluids too when you did this?
I switched my transfer case fluid out back in August for Royal Purple Synchromax and at the same time, did my front and rear diff's with Royal Purple 75W90 Gear Fluid

yesh, i asked about all the fluids. here`s what they said.
Dexron IIIG and Dexron IIH are ‘Dexron III’ fluids – just the more advanced versions that actually came out in 2004 and 2005 .
The offer superior high temp oxidation breakdown resistance than the earlier versions.
The RP MaxATF part # 01320 is what you want to use in the 4L60E of the 2005 Yukon.
Takes 5 quarts in the pan and the total system holds 11.2 quarts.
If the system is clean – you can change out just the pan and not have to flush the system.

Got my front diff done today and DAMM! It was a qrt low and the magnet on it was FULL to say the least. Now to get the transfer case done and she will be all done except for the power steering but I need a new gearbox first.
