What is this thing? It was taken from a 2004 Yukon, near the bottom of the vehicle, below the headlights. I had to unplug a power cord in the back to remove it. I have never seen anything like this. What function does it serve?
NOTE: the other side has one just like it. Neither has a cover or lens on it. There doesn't seem to be a bulb of any kind. Just a weird metal piece where the lightbulb would be (if this were a headlight)
There seems to be a bare wire behind that square metal piece, all the way in the back.

Anyhow, I'm almost 50, and I've never seen or heard of anything like this yet. You learn something every day! :)

Fog light……. absolutely stock part. ( That little square shield … there’s a bulb behind it.
Search for “Yukon fog light” on the internet……. cheap to replace…. be sure you order a LEFT and a RIGHT. You can order the pair at any autoparts store.

Have fun !

Welcome to this forum……. We’ll be happy to coach you on your wonderful Yukon. Please post pictures of your Yukon !!

I know some people that just enter their car, start it up and drive. Oblivious to everything, until they call a mechanic.

I was just being understanding.
It is fact that there are literally modern day slaves that work people over for every penny they have and their masters get away with it
I have witnessed grown people that were apparently so well pampered in life that they do not know how to put air in a tire
so nothing really surprises me anymore

that being said my own knowledge only stretches so far, I couldn't tell you where a missile launched at 36deg with 10,600lbs of thrust weighing 500lbs will land, nor the what the clearance should be on a valve in the engine. or many other things.

All’s I know is the thickness of a piston at top dead, is 1/2 of a piece of paper in a F1 engine.

Thank you all for your help.
I like having an older, more fixable vehicle, so I'm inclined to keep this truck running as long as possible.

Thanks again,

Matthew

When I was fresh out of high school, Tremors was being filmed in my hometown and surrounding areas. I see this red Jeep Wrangler pull up into the self serve aisle. Nobody got out. I walk out there, it's Kevin Bacon, he said he didn't know where to put the gas in. Asked if I would do it. I pointed out he's in the self serve aisle, but yeah I'll do it. I was thinking "What a moron, who doesn't know how to fill up a vehicle with gasoline".
