I like to live dangerously.
Look, I know GM's quality is getting lower with each generation. But, I firmly believe that my 5,000+ lb. SUV is supported by more than a couple pounds of dense foam and molded ABS plastic. I guess Chevrolet's cladded wheels are even weaker cuz they're only 5-spoke.

So, the de-clads clashed with the chrome trim, so I swapped the handles for some color-keyed ones:
The chrome handles are going on a buddy's Sierra. I'm also gonna trade him my chrome mirror caps for his black ones. I'll smooth and paint match them before snapping them on. Probably paint the grille at the same time.

No, it’s just plastic cladding. Not at all like a urethane-in-place windshield which is indeed part of the structure.

@iamdub Those de-clad's look great!
I've been wanting to find some different wheels for my Yukon but I simply can't find much I like. I haul all the time (28' travel trailer) so I'd prefer to stay 20" or smaller. And living in a rural area the car does go onto dirt and other types of roads. I simply don't care for much of what the aftermarket companies have to offer so those de-clad's look great to my eyes.

I've been finding more and more as I look. I recently found stock wheel solutions and like a lot of what they have to offer.

Thank you. A bonus is they're cheap! When I was looking, I saw a handful of ads for these wheels and they were all around $350-$450 with worn or no tires. I really wanted one set that was priced at $300 due to the "one damaged wheel". It was just deep gouges on the chrome cladding that I was gonna rip off anyway. I missed every one of 'em due to timing and logistics but scored mine with great tires and lug nuts for $400.

Sidebar: About how long did it take you to swap all four (4) handles? Asking because I bought a new set of handles 2 years ago to replace 2 or 3 of my worn originals, but I've not installed them yet due to, well, being lazy and not wanting to devote the time. lol

I've give yourself about 20 minutes per door or so. It's not hard. Just take your time and be patient so that you don't drop anything into the door and have to fish it out LOL

Yeah, I've removed/replaced all door panels a few times, mainly to install Dynamat but also to replace two different door lock actuators, so I'm comfortable with the process and can do it fairly easily/quickly. Just wondered if the handle replacement process itself is at all tricky or time-consuming.

About 2 hours. But, I had to stop after doing the passenger side to go find my dog cuz I let him out to do his business and forgot all about him and got involved in the handle swap. Then I had a slowdown on the left rear door because, apparently, the panel had never been removed before and was SUPER tight. So, I took a few minutes there to epoxy a broken mount tower. Yes, the "Christmas tree" snap pin thing held with a force greater than what the plastic box molded into the door panel could withstand.
