What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I noticed this while working on it yesterday.
From being lowered I'm assuming. Looks like an old war wound tho. I also noticed RUST!! Above the ds rear wheel well I have some small bubbling happening, and behind the wheel on the lower 1/4 panel the rust bubble has gotten much bigger.
Living in Jersey ain't easy.

Looks like somebody put a bolt in backwards. What would happen if you turned it around so the threaded portion is sticking out?

Replaced the passenger seat leather
Had some difficulty getting all the wires disconnect from under the seat, to the frame that holds the cushion so I put it on without detaching the cushion all the way, wasn’t too bad

Did you remove the seat from the vehicle like you’re supposed to?

I agree. That bolt on mine is turned around with the nut on the outside.

Another screw up on the mechanics part i guess. I don't think it could turn it around without running into sn issue. I'll just leave it.

Did you remove the seat from the vehicle like you’re supposed to?

Yes I did, would post pics, but they’re too large(got one to work)
Just did the bottom leather,
After removing the seat from the car, drivers seat only had a few disconnects to get the seat from away from the rest of it
The passenger side had multiple wires I couldn’t figure out how to disconnect
But, I had some wiggle room, so I was able to the everything attached

Replaced the fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter and fuel pump today on my 2004 Tahoe.

It refused to start last night after stumbling once after a previous start. Checking fuel pressure displayed a constant 41psi. (FlexFuel)

I wussed out (or got adventurous) and decided not to drop the gas tank and chose to replace the pump through the floorboard under the rear passenger seat. Access only took a few minutes after the seat was removed and carpet pulled back. Three straight cuts created a flap that easily folds back towards the center of the vehicle.

To button it up, three tabs were secured under the three cuts that were made. The opening was lined with butyl sealant tape, flap folded back down and then secured with short sheet metal screws.

Should anybody opt for this method, keep in mind the fuel tank is about 1/2" below the sheet metal along a driver's side front to back cut.

I installed a oil catch can a bit ago and now I have this noise like an air leak. If I pinch one of the tubes it stops so pretty sure its from the can but everything is tight and when you put my hand around trying to "plug" the leak and listen for a change I can't. So my question is does yalls do this also?

I recorded the noise but the file is too big...

I think the hissing noise may be a common things with the catch cans. See if this helps:

my can dont make any noise. if you hear it thats a vac leak. if large enough the engine will surge at idle. spray some brake cleaner at it and the hose ends. if you have flammable spray the engine rpm will go up, non flammable it will bog.

Yeah I can try that but the guy in the vid didnt have a leak and it makes noise. I kinda think it's like he found out it's just the noise of the air passing through the hose. That said I could be wrong so I'll check some more for a leak.

I dont understand why so many people hack up their floors like this. Some people do it because they buy cheaper pumps that fail every 2-3 years, and they want it easier to replace. To each his own, I guess. When my fuel pump went out, I just forked out the cash for an OEM AC Delco fuel pump, and dropped the tank. That was in 2017, so 8 years ago now. Hopefully, that pump lasts 17 years just like the original pump did. I'd rather spend the money on a good OEM fuel pump, and drop the tank ONCE instead of cutting the floor and replacing the pump every 2-3 years with a $60 Amazon fuel pump.

if you can hear the vacuum through the hose buy better hoses. i got that cheap ass can off amazon and the hose that comes with it is so thin, no way i was using it.

Yeah I replaced those hoses with some of this. I did some research and it is a common problem, some say it might be the length of the hose that makes the difference, I have a pretty long run. If it is just acoustics I may put a hose around the installed hose to quiet it.

your still using the pcv valve right? with out that regulating the flow you might hear it sucking the air through then.

I tend to agree with you as a few Youtube videos gave me the williies.

However, a Delphi FB0810 fuel pump replaced the original Delphi pump at 20 years use and 170k. That's how I roll, quality OEM parts whenever available, and why I purchased a genuine GM E-fan wiring harness from you and not an ill-engineered aftermarket setup.

Going in through the floor was both expedient and effective. May the rest of the vehicle last as long as this fuel pump should.

To boast a bit, my automotive body and paint skills banished any appearance of an ugly hack. A garage based restoration of a '76 Bronco for my father is attached. The passenger side floorboard was also removed before welding up new metal.
