Just finished the XM and Onstar antenna delete.

XM removed:

What was left behind:

After some APC and elbow grease:

And after some DA polisher action:

It's definitely not where I want it to be, but it's a start.

Plugged up. I think the Duplicolor Clear yellowed on me a bit, but at least if I want to redo it, the plugs themselves were only like $4 total and sealed with silicone adhesive sealant.

The other side finished. This side came out a bit better:

I still need to clean up the excess silicone once it cures, and maybe hit the area with the DA again.

Try wet sanding with 2,000 grit...should remove it

What's the process to do this? Does the headliner have to come down to get these antenna's out?

Yeah, it does. Remove the 4 screws from the sunvisors, 1 screw from the upper control pod assembly and pop it down, pop off the A-pillar plastic, remove rubber around the sunroof, and pop out the clips from the passenger side handle. Headliner should drop down enough to get a wrench in there. It was a 10mm for the Onstar on the drivers side, and a 22mm for the XM.

Changed the oil. How does the magnet look? Normal?

Did the debris look on the rag? Brass or steel?

It's like a time capsule.
Saw this today when I started it up. View attachment 180541
I'm pretty sure I've read the outside air bag sensors go bad. Anyone have any thoughts on the cause?

Hah. Im dealing with this tomorrow. Do you have a scan tool that can read advanced codes? Mine says passenger side front impact sensor is bad.

There are 4 sensors so guessing at them could get expensive at $65 a pop.

Replacing mine tomorrow. Should be simple...
