So black bear performance is coming near my area may 5-7. I must have read about 10 threads on the tuning and decided it's well worth the money. Today I should be getting the money for my fender flares so that I can ship them tomorrow. With that money I will put down the $80 deposit. Hopefully they still have a spot open on Wednesday but I think they still do. All the reading about the tune has me really excited and what I look forward to the most is the sport mode since I tow nothing. I do need an opinion from a few who have gotten the tune, is there a big difference between 89 and 93 octane tunes that would justify spending $.30 more per gallon?
I have an Autocal and am able to switch between 87-89 and 93 octane tunes. I've tried the 93 tune and didn't see a difference in either power or mileage and I ran 3 tanks through it on the 93 tune. I have the 6.0 motor. I switched back to the 87-89 tune. If I had to choose one I'd go with the 87-89 tune.So black bear performance is coming near my area may 5-7. 93 octane is all over the place around here, but it's about $.45 more per gallon so idk if it'd be worth itJust got mine tuned this past weekend. I had it tuned for 87-89 octane and E-85 since mine is a flex fuel vehicle. For a DD, I didn't see that going with the 93 octane tune would have added much, other than a headache because not all gas stations near us have 93 octane.

I'm sure he will but you guys need to give ol' Justin time to get my tune ready for my Whipple because it's supposed to ship this week and I'm hoping he can get my tune ready and e-mailed to me this week also!I just put down the deposit for the tuning and I can't wait! Here you can see the crimp connectors a bit better, also, I've done this kind of thing enough to know that you test EVERYTHING before you button it all up.

Yesterday was, uh, interesting. Over the weekend I was bored so I replaced the passenger side inner and outer tie rods. The dust boot was pretty well shot. I did a cheesy string alignment that I saw on youtube, which I figured was good enough to get me to the shop I use for alignments and wheel/tire stuff. Anyway, I get there and they put it on their machine and come back out and tell me they can't do the alignment becuase the driver's side lower ball joint had been cross threaded and also had a gap between the nut and the lower control arm!! I mean holy hell.
So on my way back home I swing by autozone and pick up a lower ball joint and their rent-a-tool ball joint press. I get home, pull it in my shop, put it up on a jackstand and take a look. Sure enough, the lower ball joint nut has a good two-three milimeter gap between it and the control arm. Take it all apart and press it out and this is what I find:

Now, I'm not Mr Goodwrench, but I'm pretty certain it's not supposed to look like that!! DOH!! And it wasn't cross threaded, it just wasn't tight. Quick disclaimer: I have only had this Yukon for three weeks now and I'm going through it replacing stuff that is worn out.
After I get the lower ball joint out I took a look at the upper and it had some up and down play in it. Since it's already all apart and I had the press sitting there, I guess there's no better time to replace that one to.

Back to the autozone. Get back I pressed both the lower and upper back into the control arms. It's not too bad of a job, but I can't imagine how one would go about it without having a press.

This is where I left it last night. It was getting a little late and I was getting a little hungry. And work is keeping me from tinkering on it today dammit. The passenger side ball joints will now happen sooner rather then later now. They probably aren't in any better shape than the driver's side.
Hopefully not bent!!
How do your bushings look?
I just figure if your ball joints are trashed ot that point that your bushings are probably done as well. Sometimes they are ovaled out but they look ok externally.Looked fine to me.
