I got some LED's for the gauge cluster. Like the look, but I'm eventually going to get white ones. I plugged in my 6K map lights and it had the same factory blue and the needles were white. I had just the right amount left so I put them in my turd-gen

Wow that some serious oil pressure in the turd gen. What is it? Thunderchicken? I had an L98 IROC way back when... still miss that car. :grd:

@TheAutumnWind @Tonyrodz is correct, its a 92. Its where my screen name comes from. It has been sitting for 2+ years and the engine has some ticking sounds. It was my first car and it hasn't had an easy life but somehow it still fires up lol There is a torn apart L33 block in my garage thats waiting to get built when I get my new job.

@pnwdan You have a link for that?

Did you solder in individual led bulbs or use the strips?

Oh duh... 1992rs. I completely overlooked that.

I still love those old cars. Even though/maybe because of the fact that they are kind of the red headed stepchild of the Fbods. Had two friends with IROC's in HS also. Mine was the fastest... not the prettiest though after I took it over a curb and cracked the paint on the front fascia. Doh.

Theres something about them. Everyone seems to have a soft spot for them. I know several people who do not like american cars but the third gens. With the right mods they are quite capable in all forms of racing too! Im going to the road racing theme, but I dont know if it will ever be legal for racing when I'm done with it lol

Mine came with a bra on it and I found out the hard way why the bra was on it, the front fascias paint is trashed

Back in the day I used to part out third gens. Always loved the 89 Formulas with the 350 tpi's. Had three of them.
Did yours come with the 6 or 8?

Oh that's right. Well you can still use the strips but you'll need to solder in the connection. I'll see if I can find the link
I like the strips better, more uniform back lighting.

Natural white led strip about 3' total used in my cluster. Almost another foot used in my climate control, but pieces are cut shorter to fill in the buttons right. It is a more clear bright white in person. Not sure why the camera catches the blueish/green spots.

Edit: better picture I found.

Yeah? time consuming is my issue atm. I have a newborn so not much free time to break down the family bus and take a soldering iron to it.
Still drivable with gauge cluster removed. Just use a GPS speedometer on your phone if you have to drive it. If longer time is needed get the torque app and a Bluetooth dlc adapter and it can display any parameter you want to watch.

In case you find time, It's literally under an hour complete from removal to install if you have everything purchased.
With strips or solder?
Wonder if there's a video of a strip install. The more I think abut it the more I wanna do color changing strips. If I take the time to tear it all apart I might as well go crazy with it. Just need the ac controls to match .
