What CAI do you own? why?

according to that recent black bear study alll the ones they tested had almost identtical HP gains namely the simple little air raid jr deal
wich basically means there is no benefit to buying an expensive CAI

So you guys are willing to pay over $100 for the Airraid Jr. MIT tube? It's a simple tube!! Couldn't you get a piece of large diameter hose and maybe a 45 degree elbow or maybe 90 degree elbow?

This was my first CAI tube wrap, SO I didn't wrap the couplers.

This is how I currently Wrap CAI Tubes.
Coupler, MAF. From end to end.
I also wrap ALL Hot Lines and hoses. Under hood heat reduction has been substantial!

Its Sprayed inside and out, then baked with the heat gun.

Amazon some 4" aluminum tube and couplers. copy the bends you see on the specter.

Had the K&N. Sure it's a 8hp gain or whatever, but it was annoying loud. Went back to stock an got my $250 back.

How did you get the ceramic inside your headers?

Not internaly coated, just very heavily externaly coated.
I ise a entire can of 2k VHT per header.

There os only two methods i know of to i ternaly coat a header.

Airaid is the best for proven power and least expensive. If ~$150 is beyond the budget other hobbies beckon.

GM saw fit to include a 'CAI' and unrestrictive box as OE or didn't you notice?

Real world, on the street or track results DONOT mimic dyno testing.

Tell me how a 3" pipe out flows a 4". Tell me how a 8"x6" out flows a 10"x 6" air filter.

Well, I picked up an Airaid MIT today for $90

I have to gree with above, a car sitting on the dyno with the hood down is not the same as on the track or the Interstate at 70....splinters back to back results on the track have more weight than the linked post IMHO. I've always been a fan of CAI over a tube and filter sucking in hot under hood air.

Hood was up, with fans on. Some people like dyno numbers, but we agree street would be best. Comparisons are pretty impossible.

Thanks Jenna, totally understand the limitations of the dyno testing, and appreciate the data provided. I take it all into consideration. Even if you just put a cone filter straight on the throttle body, that might do very different on the dyno with the hood up and a fan blowing fresh air in, than on the road with the hood down and sucking in hot air with a closed hood and no fan pumping in

I installed my MIT today, easiest mod so far.
Didn't drive it today but will tomorrow morning at 3:15am, yay.
