So yesterday I did two things. I unhooked the battery and installed my new DD stereo and then cleaned the MAF. Didn't drive the truck until later.

Got in, drove probably 60 miles, and was on the way home on a kind of rough city road when the Service 4WD light came on.

I drive the truck in 2Hi/2WD and NOT in Auto-4. I've tested the 4WD in the past two weeks of owning it and it has given me no problems.

I stop at the grocery store where I was headed and press the 4HI button to see if it will engage - the button doesn't respond at all. Doesn't even try to change. I try it while moving, and in neutral. Button doesn't do anything. Doesn't even flash like it's trying to change. I pressed it one more time and the 4WD switch lights all turn off and it doesn't do anything, press 2HI again and the 2hi light comes back on.

I go in to the store, come back a few minutes later, and try it... It shifts between 4 and 2wd. I drive and while driving home I hit 4HI to try it again and it goes in to 4HI ---- I go to put it back in to 2 and the button stops responding again. I press the button like 2-3 more times and it finally blinks then changes back to 2WD...

I haven't scanned it yet. I am kind of thinking because of the way the buttons are NOT responding to my push it may be that the switch itself has taken a crap???

The truck is an 04 Yukon.

The other thing I did do yesterday was take it through a touchless car wash that DOES blast the underside with water. Is it possible that there was some moisture screwing with it?

The switches go bad and 9/10 times thats the problem. Have seen it on multiple trucks but on one of them the transfer case was actually the problem and went out shortly after.
