The parts companies including ACD have responded to the pressures of low price competition. We can all thank ourselves for putting price first and making Walmart and all the other big corporate cost cutters eat the quality competitors.

ACD, like many, sell multiple levels of quality. OE and “Gold”. So just ACD on the label doesn’t completely tell the story on quality.

I have ACD parts on my Jeep. They’re into a lot more than GM OE parts.

Well as I mentioned, there are stories about people buying parts from a dealership and still getting counterfeit parts. I guess once they're in the supply chain no one is safe.

Stories… but probably as likely that gm updated the part, switched suppliers without changing the part number, and / or there’s just a problem with the gm part.
Without having to talked to the engineer that specd it, you’ll never know with absolute certainty. All you can do is try to buy from the most reputable source.

Buying AC Delco doesn't mean you're buying OEM grade parts. They have a good / better / best product line setup.
Silver = imported items
Gold = better quality
OE = OEM best quality.

So, it sounds like a crap shoot as to whether or not you're actually getting the real deal.

If I am getting Chinese crap parts, I want to pay Chinese crap prices. That being said, I prefer the crap parts in an AC Delco box.

I don't care who makes it, as long as it's not crap. LOL! AC Delco parts are apparently made all over the world.
