2nd fill up w/ the new vent valve installed. It fills a little faster than the last time but still not at par.

No gain on ending the restrictive fill ups. Time to go down the rabbit hole with possibly ridding the system of carbon canister pellets and all the other time consuming diagnosis related to this. Time to start shopping for an OEM fuel pump as the tank is likely going to be dropped. I refuse to drop this tank more than once in this decade due to a cheap, knock off pump.

Girls started school and working on getting the oldest her license. Both are in high school now and starting to thrive in spite of all the hoopla going on. This takes precedence over everything else like front sway bar bushings that just mooshed out. Taking Talulah to get groomed as all our bulldogs are included in the kids senior pictures.

I did find the ultimate solution for Video / Phone / Navi in motion / bypass. The White / BT Dieselworks OBD for $195 + $195 will get me an entire ****load of features plus the screen unlock in motion for the same price as the Barracuda VIM for $330.

*Grr, just noticed the DVD bypass only works on 2012-2014 with AutoSync product. It's also listed as an extra cost option on 12-14. Hopefully AutoSync will create a workaround for the 07-11 BCM. They're so close to hitting all the marks on this product, hope they find a way to add this feature.

DVD bypass only works on 2012-2014 with AutoSync product as discovered above. Emailed them for a possible/recommended workaround to add it or see if they have anything in development.

Off the AutoSync spread sheet, the specific features an 09 Esky Plat will pick up are ...

Manual high-idle control.
Control EFILive/EZ-Lynk switchable tuning from radio screen or driver info center.
Strobe lights mode Flashes all exterior lights in alternating pattern (engine off).
Show live engine-transmission data in instrument cluster/DIC.
Manually view rear camera while driving.
Read/Clear engine codes.
Program TPMS warning threshold.
Disable TPMS (if plugged into ECU)
Turn signal automatically triggers backup camera for 3-seconds
Add one-touch-UP Driver window. Plat Esky already has one-touch-UP&Down for both D&P sides up front.
Add one-touch-DOWN Rear windows. No one-touch UP feature as GM doesn't have pinch protection motors in back.
Auto mirror fold at shutdown/start-up.
Windows up/down from remote keyfob.
Radio / HMI VIN clear/reset (swap radios without a trip to the dealer)
Secur-Idle - (automatically locks shifter in park when doors are locked with the remote keyfob while engine running)

The front tires were wearing at both sidewalls prematurely again. It’s a side effect of the AWD tire scrub. While the front tires were off for rotation I could see daylight between the sway bar and bushing LOL. I’m pretty sure I’m going to handle the bushing replacement with a sway bar upgrade.

All four Magneride struts are blown and the rebound bushings look like crumb cakes. The rear main has given the bottom of the truck a good underbody protection and my fuel pump is in its last leg at 155k. The sender is also 1/4 tank off. This is all simple, routine maintenance coming up. A large majority of the cost has been already offset by savings from e85 use. I love this trucks predictability after owning it’s sibling truck, the 08 YXL Denali.

The pesky little carbon pellets are like termites that propagate engine codes.

Going through some of them that came up from the pellets and I remembered one or two of the little buggers I forgot to order that is known to throw a code for the Evap system ...

Vapor Canister Purge Valve Part # 214-1680 (below) known to eliminate code P0446. There's a group of four that should be replaced when Evap codes start. I just ordered # 1 & 3 listed below. # 2 & 4 have already been replaced as deferred / preventative maint and a path to clear the check engine light.

1) 214-1680 (Below) ACDelco GM Original Equipment 214-1680 Vapor Canister Purge Valve
2) 22963841 Charcoal Vapor Canister
3) ACDelco GT295 GM Original Equipment Fuel Tank Cap *
4) GM Genuine Parts 23287620 Vapor Canister Purge Valve Hose + 19257603 Vapor Canister Vent Valve Solenoid Jumper Wiring Harness

2009 - 2010/11 and 2010/11 - 2014 may have a different thread pitch on the gas caps. Verify your VIN to ensure you get the right one. Part # GT259 vs GT359?

  • The replacement OEM fuel pump will cure the bad fuel sender and should have been replaced due to age (150K mi + 13 years of use) It should also cure code P069E (fuel pump module), P0191 & P2635 (fuel flow). When I have less than 5 gal of fuel in the truck it sputtered on hard acceleration.
  • The P0523 code is taken care of by the new oil pressure sensor.

This leaves codes ...
P1175 (Fuel Trim bank 2)
P0420 (Catalyst system low efficiency bank 1)
P0430 (Catalyst system low efficiency bank 2).

My daughter saw the other CoPirate post and thought it was cute. She made me crocheted copilot for Father’s Day since I liked Marco’s sweater from a tv commercial. Making the dog in the sweater was too hard so I got a bee. I like the bee even better

It’s probably the one you saw I just snatched. I thought about doing the make an offer thing but knew I’d regret it if I lost it after waiting a year for one to pop up, let alone one from an 11 Esky with cell phone access.

The current 09 Canadian VCIM is still happy as a clam in the 09 Esky here Cali. When I do call into O/S for something there’s always long pauses. I can tell they’re looking at their screens seeing 09 Tahoe Hybrid as the customer vehicle. Most of the O/S employees are unaware 07-14 Canadian customers could upgrade to 3/4G “F” code modules.

@swathdiver

Hey Pete, one of those Canadian 4G modules showed up on Ebay yesterday but was gone in minutes! How is your set up working?

We've owned our Denali XL AWD since ’14. The focus was catching the missed maintenance while under a service contract for the next four years. When something lit the DIC or made a noise, nothing was a surprise anymore. The itch to make changes to the lighting and tires was getting louder. While looking for current market value I noticed SoCal is currently in short supply or 1-3 owner 07-09 NNBS Denali XL but TX is prime and also for Burb’s and ESV.

Saw that it was possible to pick up an Eski AWD in TX for the same as a Denali XL AWD in CA. Stumbled on a unicorn 09 Platinum with the Hella designed led headlamps for $15k. Laid out a deposit, called an independent inspector for $169 and the deal was done for $14K. Since '09, $70K fell off in depreciation. We're the 3rd owner of this Eski @ 130 clicks. On the Denali, we're the 2nd owner @ 140 clicks. In six years we put 40K mi on the Denali. It made sense to swap the vehicles, there's no way I could of pulled off adding every feature and option a Platinum is spec'd with.

The Denali is being sold to a friend who I promised would get 1st dibs when the day came. Monday it's getting the roof painted to cure GM’s famous black paint clear coat failure, then a full detail. Once it’s complete, I’ll post both of em up like an old bar pic for Dewar’s.

07-14 Yukon owners are really are lucky now. The aftermarket led projector lamp assemblies completely smoke these early led spider eye led on the platinum Esky’s. They’re more nostalgic than technologically advanced.

The main benefit is that I won’t be getting into any of the panels to replace bulbs for a really long time. On the note that they’re hard to remove is probably the only reason I haven’t come out in the morning to find a truck without headlamps.

Yes and kudos to the forum for sharing the knowledge base on LS motors and long term results. TX is still the land of milk & honey for finding a unicorn L9H truck and in good condition too.

Well, super sad day. Feeling a tiny bit better but still hurts. These Bulldogs are short lived, especially when you get the pre-owned (adopted) models. New Year’s Eve Talulah had some kind of undetermined, unknown tumor burst and in 4 hours she was gone after 7 short years.

Hug ur pups and spoil the ship out of them. For the first time we took our dogs with us on XMAS break to NorCal. Absolute chaos and a total blast. Best decision and XMAS gift we’ve ever had unbeknownst to us we realized how important it was.

Hug your fur children!

Did a little swaparoo with the OnStar VCIM from the 09 Canadian Hybrid to the 11 Canadian Esky O/S VCIM. The O/S Rep confirmed my vehicle (donor vehicle) was showing on her side as an ‘11 ice white Cadillac Escalade Platinum. This is a huge score.

When using these preloved Canadian 3/4G O/S modules it’s beneficial to have a make, model and color match. The O/S VCIM is active under my name but the original truck it was born into stays the same and can’t be changed. If the truck is stolen I can call and have it shut down. When it’s recovered they’ll find a white Esky ESV Platinum. I’m sure they’ll have questions about it being a different VIN and Year though.

O/S set up my new 3/4G account to the same App I had for the 2011 Esky 2G VCIM they shut down last year. I pressed the ignition start button, held it down and 10 seconds later, Voilà! It remote starts and stops via the cell phone App.

The 07-09 trucks were never meant to have these 2010+ O/S features. The fact that GM opted to shut down their 2G O/S network that supported this cell app feature stinks. It’s even worse they never offered it to older vehicles when it’s 100% backwards compatible and plug n play as well as adding unlimited 4G WiFi service to the truck for $15 Mo.

Welp, real rain in SoCal. Going to enjoy this stuff because this is the norm everywhere else. It’s also a blast to see all the locals run around with their hair on fire like it’s a disaster movie
