I talked to the owner this afternoon and I believe I can get this for $14k to $14,500 cash. If I can, it may be too tempting to pass up. Has the LQ4 6.0 engine and 3.73 gears.

Anyone have info to share about the LQ4 engine and the 4L65E transmission combination. I seem to recall a weakness or 2 in the LQ4 6.0 engines. I did ask and he said there are no exhaust manifold bolt heads broke off. IIRC my LM7/5.3 is actually the better engine.

At 91,000 miles, how often he changed the ATF and how it was driven will determine how long the 4L65E has left before it needs a rebuild-upgrade.
Might be why it's for sale?
Don't know anything about LQ4 weaknesses.

Wow, that's CLEAN! Buy it and take it to the rustbelt and re-sell for a profit?

The only "weakness" of the 6.0 in the 1500 chassis is that, you will likely blow up the transmission more quickly if you mash the skinny pedal...IDK

Otherwise they are basically identical to the 4.8/5.3.

I have texted him questions about what was done in the 17 Service History visits. Looking for oil change history and at least one transmission fluid and filter service and were the plugs ever changed. I also asked him, yesterday via text, what his absolute bottom dollar cash price is.

Waiting to hear back. He may never answer, if he has no good answers for my questions. He did say he has never towed with it because he owns a 2005 K2500 big block pickup that he tows a small 5th wheel with.

I will not be buying it but only because he will not go below $18k cash. He did supply very detailed CarFax records that show great maintenance and records of new bearings in the front diff and transfer case because of a noise in the front diff and he said to do the transfer case at the same time. All that work was done by a very knowledgeable, well reviewed ASE Master Tech that has a shop at his house. The seller's name is Les and the vehicle also has absolutely no rust. Please do not contact him, till tomorrow, if you are interested. I still have to talk it over with my girl before we make a final decision. If interested, I will supply the pic of RPO codes and all the vehicle repair/maintenance paperwork.

I talked to him and told him I would not be buying. He is ok with me posting this all here. There will be 25 pics. The brake pedal is to prove that the mileage is mostly highway. The pinion seal was done on the rear diff.

You'd think he'd just put those pics on the Craigslist ad and you could link it here. You getting a commission? ;)
Yea, but he is convinced that it will sell quickly and is not gonna expect all buyers to be like me. He was not mad at me and understood but I was thinking $14 to $14,500.

That transmission is suspect and I am not a fan of AWD....all the time.

looks like a nice truck. I drove a couple 5.3 powered trucks and in my opinion in the standard wheel base rigs it has plenty of get up and go. And we all know how reliable the 5.3 is. But in the longer heavier trucks I felt that the 5.3 was a little underwhelming. Which is what motivated me to get a 6.0. That’s just my opinion l, certainly not by any means fact. That being said I’ve never regretted getting a 6.0 AWD Denali. It has tons of power. I live at 7,000 feet elevation and it hauls behind up and down the mountain highways. I can pass the slow tourists with zero problems whatsoever. Same maintenance as the 5.3 and it runs like a top. Never had any reliability issues with it. And the AWD system is JUST as awesome. I’ve never once been stuck in the snow and we had 10 feet of snow in just ten days, back in February of 2023. Pretty record breaking for us. We never get tha much all at once. Highway patrol and caltrans had R3 chain restrictions in place for nearly a week which means all vehicles regardless of drivetrain needed to be chained up. I never once put chains on as I don’t have chains or cables that even fit and I had no problems. Good set of Michelins work wonders. And the added benefit to AWD is the handling. Cruising up and down the mountain highways with all 4 wheels always under power gives such good grip which is the other reason that I can rip it up and down. All im saying is don’t smack talk the 6.0s and the AWD until you try it lol.

On a serious note, genuine question…. When did the condition of the brake pedal indicate what type of miles, a vehicle has been driven? Because just about every GM full size rigs I’ve detailed in the last 15 years has a pedal that looks like that….. never seen a win looking brake pedal from lots of city driving versus highway driving. including mine…. Truck is 20 years old now and has over 217k on it now of every type of paved driving you can imagine. And my brake pedal doesn’t look worn out. As far as I’m aware it’s the pedal that the truck left the factory with. So that comment sorta threw me for a loop… unless it was a joke?

If you look at my brake pedal pad, the right 3rd is almost completely worn down, which says something about how and where I drive - metro urban stop n go.
If more miles were highway miles, there'd be more rubber left on the brake pedal pad.

Then again, if my Tahoe had a 6.0L & 4.10 axles, who knows what my brake pedal pad would look like ...

I was sharing what he said. Car salesman speak. Anyone can buy new rubber pads and dirty them up.

That dude has been tracking BaT too much, or he don't want to sell. I had an 01 5.3 / 4L60E - went 270K. NE Frame Rot killed it. The 02 6.0 LQ4 / 4L80E - 179K on the engine - it seized - I had it swapped for a used motor - put 800 miles on it since - ok so far. The new guy is a 2500, so not 100% apples - apples compare, but I do like that generation of truck.
