Unable to adjust settings on DIC

Newbie here so forgive me if I'm trying to post this incorrectly.

I recently had my trans replaced on my 05 Tahoe. After I got it back from the shop I discovered I was unable to adjust the settings (headlight delay, door lock options etc) on the DIC. Pressing the fuel pump button has never worked since I got it so don't even know what that is for.

Does anyone know anything about this that might give me a clue about fixing this? Is there a reset process? Or anything I can do?

...and are you trying to use the "stick" in the instrument cluster or are you using the steering wheel controls to adjust the DIC???

My vote would be to either check the connection of those buttons (you can pop them out with a pick or screwdriver if you're careful), or the clock spring in the steering wheel.

them buttons get dirty inside and quit. bulbs may burn out but the button still works. so if the clock spring is bad you would also have a air bag light and no lights or function of the radio buttons.

them buttons pop right out, but way easier to unplug them with the air bag removed. air bag pops right off, you have two small holes on the left and right side, put a nail or awl or small punch inside the hole push in till you feel a spring loaded item, push it in then pull on that side. hold that side up and then work the other side. you got like 6 inches of air bag wire under there, so dont just rip it away. un hook the battery if you plan to unplug the air bag. you can just flip it over the top of the column and out the way wired up still.

Not necessarily. It could be intermittent and starting to fail, but still have some functionality. When mine went bad, it would mostly work, but sometimes if I had the steering wheel at just the right angle, like turning on a freeway overpass and tried to adjust the volume of the radio, it wouldn't work.

Newbie here dealing with a similar problem. I have a 2003 Yukon Denial I bought used for a great deal. I know that the transmission has been replaced. I have replaced the steering wheel buttons with new ones thinking that might have been the issue. I was wrong lol. The lights come on all of the buttons but the lower two buttons will not work. Can anyone help with this?

The upper buttons work. The lower ones light up but nothing happens when pressed.

I've never heard of the buttons going bad; the lights will die and the graphics will rub off, but the actual buttons seem to work forever. That said, I have seen a bad clockspring eff up steering wheel controls before. When we replaced the clockspring, everything worked magically. But we had an airbag light on as well.

i had buttons go bad, and lights go out. replaced them with new units.

I'm thinking the previous owner tapped into the wiring harness under the wheel to add a trailer control box. I just haven't verified yet what they had done. I haven't had the truck long. But then again it may be the clock spring. I just don't have any symptoms other then the change oil message on the dash message board.

trailer brake controllers just plug into the box under the dash in these trucks. no need for cutting wires.

i think you just need new switches to replace the ones not working. super easy to replace, just need to pop the air bag off, you might think thats the hard part, but its also super easy to remove.

Why not put your vehicle info in your signature? Wiring differs sometimes year over year.

For trailer brakes in these there is a dedicated harness under the dash that is used to splice into the trailer brake pigtail; none of the wires have anything to do with the steering column.

You can find wiring diagrams on www.charm.li to see how the steering wheel switches connect to the vehicle body. A good bidirectional scanner might show you the switch positions while they are being activated or pressed.

have you played with the little harness they plug into? maybe a wiggle/pull push test might show some life. dirty plug?
