same. engine

thats what I though, but for some reason im like 99% my LQ9 (06 denali) doesnt have the "vortex max" logo on the cover.

Is the "vortex max" lq9 out of those select silverado's with the 6.0?

The Vortec ** 6000 or VortecMAX is a special high-output version of the Vortec 6000 V8 truck engine originally designed for Cadillac. This engine was introduced in other truck lines as VortecMAX for 2006. It features high-compression (10:1) flat-top pistons for an extra 10 hp (7.5 kW) and 10 ft·lbf (14 N·m), bringing output to 345 hp (257 kW) and 380 ft•lbf (515 N•m). LQ9s are built only in Romulus, Michigan. GM also listed it as based on LS architecture.[24]

Not exactly the same engine. Bigger hp and more compression (i think)

gary- yours is just a 6.0 (denali) eskys have vmax

These pictures are OLD pics, most of these parts are already INSTALLED!
I need to install: GEARS, CAM (232/238 - 236/242 and Re-Tune after the 2"lift.

Do the 305/50/20 rub

slightly on articulation, both front and back. Im a 2wd. Not enuff to hurt anything if you drive with sense. I also have my t-bars maxed. Thats why Im planing a 2" lift.

Lol I was going to do the 6.2 swap 2 years ago, people told me the 317 heads made better tq. the 6.0 is a monster IMO, and with the right TUNE. apples to oranges!
ok its like .2 cubes of a difference, 2/10ths. lol. Its wicked 6.0s running around.

yeah, 6.2 would be cool, but im not sure its worth all the trouble. Im still determined to get a lq9 vmax for mine. Just something about a tahoe getting down, not expected.

Why you lifting it? Too low?

really bad roads, and lots of hills, potholes, unpaved road etc. I just relocated, so the drop had to go. Trust, me lifting it 2" is going to do alot for looks, performance wise, its over geared. It still going to get down, and when the Cam goes in with the 4.88s. It will be a NEW animal. I can make it loose traction now on 3.73s with the 305/50/20s. So the 4.88s will be fun. Cam still juggling in my thoughts.

Stock VS Planed CAM

191/190 .457/.466 lsa 114 = LQ4 6.0
196/207 .457/.479 lsa 116 = LQ9 6.0 ME

NEW CAM speced specifically for my combo
232/238/621/621/113+1 this will be in the 6'O'

compared to stock should be a light switch difference. Got the cam on my xmas list.

yea of course, they still used both the 80 and 85e in 2007. Right now the 80e in my 2001 is a 98 80e. Now I got a fresh 07 85e which has better internals, and stronger parts. I hopefully get it put in today. And wrap up my 1.5" lift install as well.

I just got a copies of the title, the trans came from a 07 G3500 with a diesel. From what I researched the diesels were coupled with the 85e 5 planetary while the 6.0s got the 80es, Its rated for a extra 20 ft lbs

The plugs look different, but Ill remove my current Neutral switch and use that so everything plugs up the same. Then in a few weeks Ill slap my 4.88 gears and LSD in, then get the retune. Paint the truck soon after that, and ENJOY it. Still got to squeeze cam swap in to that too.

4L85e is NICE. shifts are awesome too with the 4k stall. My 3.73s are still out back untill next week, but its awesome power delivered throughout gears. This Vmax and 85e is like a marriage. IMO its a good combo. especially for durability. My 4.88s and LSD gets installed in another week.
