I’m in the same boat. I have a 2021 Yukon slt diesel. My transmission valve body is going out. My car kicks into gear. Took me 2 months to even get an appointment at the dealership. Now they’ve told me it’s on back order and I will probably be waiting all summer. I complained to the manager that I cannot be without a car. So frustrating!!
It was so frustrating but keep fighting, make a lot of noise use that document to your advantage it is in my thread here, it certainly worked for me, and I escalated my case to Chevy headquarters

@Staceyr72

Glad you finally were able to get you vehicle back.

I do not mean to be a Debbie Downer, but pay very close attention to how the new transmission is shifting. Even the replacement transmission have the same basic valve body problems.

If you notice any unusual shifting problems, get on it early, maybe if you have any problems in the future, valve bodies will be available if the new transmission needs a replacement.

I have all parts here, waiting for time, I have had 2 trips come up and a bunch of family visit, hopefully in the next 2 weeks I can knock out my valve body upgrade. After driving my truck a bit more, I have noticed a few small shifting issues, I have a little over 8k miles on my Yukon at the moment.

I just got mine back 2 weeks ago after 3 months sitting at the dealership. My dealership did get a valve body to do the fix. I didn't get a whole new transmission. Are you working with the 'Parts Delay' team for reimbursement of things? I have $3800 worth of rental car receipts and I'm also going to try and get them to cover my car payments during that time I didn't have it (just under $3,000).

I have a question kind of related. The 6.2 recall everybody knows about. One of several things at play not necessarily related direct to cause but interestingly enough. Several people have speculated that the trani on the 6.2 keeps the rpm quite low keeping the load high on the engine. I’ve played around with selecting tow mode to move the shifts up and I actually like the way it drives. Any real drawbacks to doing this for extended time? Yes loss of mpg but more importantly long term wear on trani?

The TCM does load the engine very high at lower RPM's at highway speeds.

I have not played with the Tow Mode much, but it probably delays upshifts and may even keep the torque converter from locking up as well as it may not shift into 10th gear?? Another small side effect is I believe it keeps the Active Grille Shutters open, this provides more cooling air but impacts aerodynamics a bit.

I think mainly you will suffer a drop in fuel economy, I would be a bit concerned about watching the transmission temperature, I do not think it will be a big issue, but if the torque converter does not lock up, the transmission temperatures will probably be a bit higher. I typically see around 145-150F on the highway, sometimes I will see 155-160F if I have to slow down and crawl after cruising for a while.

The interesting thing you mention, trani temp. It’s funny, when you select tow the trani temp appears where the volt meter was. Thanks for the reply. I don’t hammer the truck but I do like the sportier shifts in tow mode and my ass tells me the standard shifts are too low. My perceptive ass is probably a byproduct of growing up with a stick.

@Scarey

It make sense that the Transmission Temperature display will show up in Tow Mode.

If you have a Yukon, double check the dash/gauge display options.

I also have by Transmission Temperature and Tire Pressures displayed in my dash full time.

Not a great picture and I have since added Oil Pressure to the bottom row as well.

2024 tahoe, don’t have those choices, at least that I’ve found yet. It’s always Easter, you find stuff every now and then.

As long as it's a 2024 - you'll have these options as well. If you have a 2025, that has a different digital IC, which is a UX/UI dumpster fire.
