@Snefferz

How many miles are on your truck?

At what point do you just take matters into your own hands? Has mentioned I don't have a problem and I only have 6,000 miles on my truck but I have the Project Carbon valve body on the way and I'm going to proactively upgrade the valve body so hopefully I won't have to deal with these shenanigans.

Thank you so much for the info, I am defiantly taking this as far as I can go, and will fill out that form too. Did you see this document released Dec 13, 2024? They did their stupid reprograming on my truck January I had it 1 day. And my truck has been there ever since. I will not accept a rebuilt or remanufactured part. They will provide NEW or replace my transmission or give me a new truck and what I owe $54K. There are other companies in America that make this part and GM is going to have to make a sacrifice!
you won't get a "new transmission" they just do not do that with transmissions they never have, you could get a "new" alternator or new xx but not on the transmissions.
you could maybe a buy a "new" one at the parts counter out of pocket, "depending" on which model transmission it is and availability.
you might not even get a 3 year 100k warranty with it anymore either, they have taken the chopping block to many things.

The unfortunate part is what I am initially hearing is the rebuilt/replacement valve bodies are not significantly updated. In the long run the valve bodies will all be exchange/rebuilt units. GM may be priming the supply chain with enough "new" valve bodies to have enough in the rebuild chain in the near future.

I think the primary problem with the "rear wheel" lock up aka transmission binding with 4 clutch packs engaged at the same time it more due to internal leaks in the valve body crossing over into passages that either control or provide fluid to other clutch packs.

I believe there have been a few repairs that failed almost out of the gate and I have read about a few instances where the TCM was updated and the software failed to put the transmission in "Limp Mode" before a lock up occurred.

I guess we shall just have to wait and see how all this pans out over the next 18 months?

Do you have a link to this read?

I was doing a deep dive search and I am not sure I can find all of the comments that I reviewed, but this is one of them

Rear Wheels Lock Up After TCM Update Recall

There were also a bunch of cases of the TCM being bricked as well during the TCM update. Some had multiple TCM's being bricked.

I am not buying this "TCM Software Update" can "detect" a failure 10,000 miles before it happens. Here are the cold hard facts, the valve body is having internal passage leaks that bleed over to other control circuits. So what typically happens is when a specific clutch pack is commanded on with transmission fluid pressure, the pressure leaks into adjacent passages and also commands a clutch pack on that SHOULD NOT be commanded on. This leakage can also cause clutch packs to be slow to engage or to also have low clamp force and slip causing premature transmission clutch pack or even torque converter clutch wear.

How can software predict such a wildcard event that should never even happen? Search YouTube for Carnac the Magnificent, this is how they can detect a failure 10,000 miles before it occurs!

Short story on how this 10 speed works from my research.

For vehicle motion, 3 clutch packs need to be commanded on at the same time. A mix of the 3 will determine the gear.

If only 2 clutch packs are engaged, due to a leak or failure of a part/component, no movement of vehicle what so ever.

If 4 clutch packs are applied at the same time, the transmissions locks or binds, thereby causing the drivetrain to lock, wheels to possibly lock up. If you are lucky, this is a very short duration event, but at speed and not expecting this type of problem, it can knock your kidney stones out and possibly cause you to need to change your shorts!

Good luck to all of us 10 speed owners!

I just got my 21 Tahoe LT back after 3 months at the dealership. Luckily it was still under warranty, but I have racked up $3800 in rental fees because they had no 'loaners' at the dealership. I'm definitely submitting that to GM for reimbursement (they said up to $44 / day), but I'm requesting ALL of it. I'm also going to request that they cover my loan payment for 3 months (Totalling just under $3,000), because I was paying for a vehicle I couldn't drive or have access to. Has anyone else been successful in getting reimbursed fully for rental / loan payments while they had no access to their vehicle?

The warranty on engine should be extended but your bumper to bumper and powertrain will be extended for as long in days in period that you didn't have use of vehicle.

Who provides the updated extension on the engine / powertrain? Is that the dealership or GM? I've heard nothing from the dealership since getting the Tahoe back and I've asked twice.

The dealership doesn't cover manufacture warranty it is turn into GM for coverage if that is your question.
