Hi,
Need some input here,
My long time Transmission guy told me a vette servo would drive me nuts with in town "normal" driving, saying it would typically slam into second. He then went on to say under hard acceleration I wouldn't so much notice the firm shifts as much as around town...
He then went on to say remember your internals are still stock ,something has to give.....He said that he doesn't and wouldn't run one in his truck.
Anyone experience harsh first to second shifts under normal in town driving after the vette servo? I was also considering the 4th servo upgrade.
I like the way the truck runs now, just looking for any easy improvements.

Mine shifts alot better than stock. I have the servo and a BB tune it isn't so bad around town and at WOT I can feel it shift real tight.I swear if I was running skinnies my truck would chirp the tires at WOT...
Well there are a lot of others who have had there set ups longer than me so im sure they will give there input..
I like it my .02

It seems lots of people have shops try and talk them out of things. What I dont get is, you are paying them to do something. Why dont they just do it and be done. Chances are you have done plenty of research and know what is going on when you ask for a specialty item like that.

Put it in your self. I dont notice anything more then a nice clean shift. My wife can barely tell. I might just put one in my work van.

Thanks for the input,
You know my answer ,just trying to figure out if there are any negatives to doing the servos."May" wait till spring and do a B.B. tune at the same time...
Ken has done my rebuilds in the past, always very good, I drop off the tranny we chat a few minutes and I get back a great rebuild...For short money. He is willing to do anything I ask as far as hvy dty components ,seems very knowledgeable in updates and upgrades for valve bodies etc that is why I was surprised by his reaction on this.
I have been into HiPo autos and toys my whole life (4x4's,sleds,bikes,boats,sport cars etc) just don't want to regret any changes on my daily driver and automatics are foreign to me.

Installed mine at 170k miles and im at 189k now and have never noticed harsh shifts when daily driving. It just makes a firmer quicker shift, nothing like a true shift kit. Installed before i got my mustang so i hot rodded it for 20k miles or so and nothing has given or even gotten weaker, it especially feels great when towing a heavy object like a boat, the quicker shift makes it pull like it should.
Moral of story, Corvette Servo FTW. its one of those cheap mods you dont come by often that makes a truely noticeable difference.

I'm sold, keep the positive reviews coming...Appreciate it..
I will do the 4th at the same time with the shaft, makes sense to me to do it all at once.
I have 136k on it now and no evident issues, goes good shifts nice.
If I can improve on that and add life than what could be bad about that?
I am in process of my air box mods with K&N drop in,airaid tube, love these little projects that have noticeable results...

You will be satisfied with all the above! Just wish parts for these trucks were as cheap as they are for my mustang!

My trans guy didn't recommend it either and he does killer transmissions!! I'm still on the fence about it as well, been tempted to do one still but I'd just shoot myself if I messed up my DD!! In time, I'll probably get the balls up to get one for my truck, but for right now I'll just keep thinking about it!! lol

It is difficult not to listen to "your" guy but then again with so many positive conversions out there it is difficult to understand why the issue?
It is similar to listening about getting a flush ,I will listen to the majority and change/drop my fluid and filter but not flush..To many horror stories of trannys failing soon after.
Many have done the servo swap here and on other sites with nothing but positive results and very minimal failures. Some in fact got extra life out of their slipping trannys by doing the swap.

There is no reason not to install the servo, it dramatically reduces the shift time and helps the longevity of the transmission. 126k on my stock 4L65E, servo and tune for the past 40k, tows awesome, drives nice and smooth, embarrasses vehicles I have no business provoking. Just get one and you'll love it

Awesome, good to hear all the positive reviews....
I am leaning hard towards the corvette servo with the sonnax 4th and waiting to hear if the updated shaft to shorten the throw is recommended or not for the longevity end of things.
Less slippage and less heat all add up to a longer transmission life. And the fact it will be more fun to drive is a huge bonus... :)
