Had to tow someone out today.
Open my tow strap, (no hooks). and I realize my Suburban has closed tow hooks on the front. So no clean way to connect the strap to the bumper hooks.

Do you just buy the tow straps with the hooks ??
Or use a big D ring ?

I actually drive around in winter with a D shackle in my receiver.

The front tow hooks are not designed to get others out, they're meant to get YOU out. You shouldn't be pulling someone else with the front tow hooks because you don't want to be in reverse - puts too much stress on the transmission.

I use no metal in dynamic recovery. No chains, no hooks. They can easily become dangerous/deadly projectiles. Nothing but recovery straps.

This is a situation where you'd use your front tow hooks (that's my 16 year-old son who was driving at the time):

Straps with the hooks are for towing, not pulling out a stuck vehicle. Whenever possible, bumper to bumper recovery.

That 2500 comes out easier the way it went in; not from the front hooks.

How do strap both ends with closed loops on both ends? You must use a D-ring on one end..

Or a clevis. If you have a pin but not a hitch you can make that work too. I had to pull a car around the property and looped one end through my clevis and the other around the hitch/ball on the vehicle to be moved, worked fine.

Pull out or tow from the rear unless you’re the one stuck of course
