Yes, I want a larger tire for my truck. I was also, told I could use 285/60 R20 tires but, I worry they might rub . Do you know if the 285 will work?

I had 275/60x20 tires when I bought my new-to-me 07 Yukon XL Denali, and they did not rub. I cannot say for sure how much free room there was between the tire and the fender liner. I suggest that you go to the Tire Rack web site and look at the physical specifications for the two tire sizes and see how much the difference is for overall height and overall width.

I went the other way, wanting a wider but lower profile tire, and I selected the 305/50x20 tire size.

07 Tahoe LTZ 20’s are calibrated to have the speedo read accurately with the 275/55/20.

The 275/60/20 will slightly slow down the speedo because the tire is about an inch taller which is 1/2” closer to the fender liners. You can take something that size and put it on the tire inside the fender to check.

Here’s where I got my info…

Be wary of the change in the tire speed rating that determines its steel cords in the sidewall and tendency to roll or feel slushy.

H should be the bare minimum you should be running. If the price is right I will buy all the way up to W rated because the can take a nail puncture and you may not notice it for months.

I think you first need to understand how tire sizes work.. 275/65/20, what currently on your truck, is larger than 275/55/20.

:roflsquared: Never watch Netflix and post on the forum about tire sizes (65 to 55) at the same time. You might miss some little details.

I assumed they wanted to go bigger even though it read different.

I have a 2009 Tahoe LTZ and recently replaced my 20" OEM Aluminum wheels (that were oxidizing and causing the tire to lose air pressure during cold weather) and 275/55/20 tires with 20" wheels and 275/60/20 tires from a newer model Z71 Tahoe. The poster that mentioned the speedometer issue above is correct (it can be off from 1-3 mph depending on your speed), and they really only rub a little at full articulation at slow speeds (e.g. when backing out of a tight parking spot). The TPMS system also does not work any longer, which results in a warning light on the dash, but I will replace the existing TPMS valve stems with new ones that will work with my year Tahoe when I get new tires.
