Tire Rotation-TPMS Sensors

I read somewhere but can’t remember where that when a tire rotation is done the TPMS Sensors need to be recalculated. It’s not a self learning system. I have a 2018 Tahoe. Any thoughts. Thanks

I have a 2007, and yes, the TPMS Sensors, when set, are wheel-specific, so if you rotate the tires, you need to re-set the TPMS Sensors to the new wheels that they are on.

Someone else on this forum with your year of truck will respond to either confirm or displace what I have said regarding your year of truck.

Is true. Not self learning. Need to be reset. You can buy a tool to do it. Takes 5 minutes or less

Or I’d imagine a newer gen than my 07 has instructions in the OM like mine. Be sure to start at the correct corner. Mine needed no special tool.

Well, special tool isn’t “needed” but makes it much easier without the need to release or add air to the tire

I think being able to relearn the positions through the DIC ended in 2010 or something. For the newer models, you need a ~$12 tool. You can use the tool on the older ones, which convenient cuz you don't have to let the air out at each corner for the process.

Amazon has TPMS programmers for less than $20. Have one and it makes rotating easy.
