The only option is to spend $120-150 and buy some new sensors and put them in there.....it cannot be turned off any other way.

I don't know, but someone with a programmer MAY be able to turn it off. Again, I'm not sure...

......?

The sensors SENSE the tire pressure....of a tire....on a wheel... If the tire pressure is abnormal then you get a chime and a warning light.

Now I'm no expert, but I'm guessing if you put the sensors in your glove box you won't get proper air pressure readings so you will still have the chime and warning lights. ;)

The way it was explained to me is that, yes they sense tire pressure, but will only give the alarm if the tire pressures are not the same. If they are all reading 0-1psi in your glove box you shouldn't get the light or chime. The system doesn't know the psi you're running, just the differences in each wheel. If one wheel gets to far below another, then it give the alarm.

Is it not possible just to use the old ones from the stock tires or do you need to buy new ones?

Doing this will not even come close to working haha.
The only other option he has is to bring down the spair tire, buy only one TPMS sensors, have it mounted like normal in the spare, then program that one sensor to all 4 tire locations and that will work and get rid of the light. That is the $40 alternative solution
It has been done before and works, but I would just buy 4 sensors for every tire.
Akuma that idea will not work either.

Putting them in the glove box does work... lol. I have quite a few customers that have done it.

There is no point in that unless you just want to waste pressure sensors.
And I am almost positive that will not work on these SUVs. The sensors send out a signal every 30 seconds regradless, and if they're is no pressure the light will come back on.
Think about it like this, if I flatten your tire while you are parked to a low PSI the pressure light should show right when you get in the car, same goes for this. If this was possible on these SUVs/trucks, somebody would have figured this out by now and posted about it, especially with people trying to save money in this tight economy.

And to address the Tech 2 thing, nobody will change that via Tech2 unless they want to get screwed because it is against the law.

Hey guys;
Put my Blizzaks on the other night, and the Yukon hasn't noticed the lack of tire pressure info yet... How often does the system communicate with the tire sensors?
Now watch, once I've posted this, the warning will be on tomorrow morning...

It is pretty sad that GM won't let you turn off the warning... As if I was going to pay another $40-$60 per tire so that light wouldn't come on... Please. How the hell did I ever manage for the last 20 years without them....? This Yukon computer is turning into a pain in the ass... I much prefer the dumbness of my '02 F150...

Well it will be on soon.
And its not GMs fault, every car on US roadays is required to have TPMS if purchased after 9/1/2007. Doesn't mater if it is BMW or Hyundai.
And you ahd the option of just transferring your sensors to the blizzaks.....

Still not on yet... but I'm sure it's coming. Is the TPMS just in the guts of the valve stem? I was under the impression that you needed a whole TPMS valve stem. If it's just the guts, it'd almost be worth transferring them....

Thanks,
Rob

They do use a specific valve stem and then there is a small black 'box' that bolts onto the back of it... If you took your new wheels to a shop they should have been able to pull the stems out of the old ones and put them in your new wheels.

theres 2 types. either or will work. One has a metal body is it a one piece unit. It passes through the rim and held on the other side by a Nut. The second type is a 2 piece. It looks like a valve stem but on the bottom it attaches to the sensor body by a screw.

Just FYI.... I believe the metal ones are discontinued and I don't think you can buy them any more, either. The dealerships only stock the rubber ones in the top pictures--at least the two GM dealerships closest to me that I checked with a couple weeks ago.

2Elo that is true for the Schrader tpms, which is used by alot of brands, like GM. Orange electronics, the other major tpms company still uses the metal ones, but theirs are a two piece metal version.
