New guy here...been lurking for a while as we ordered 22 yukon XL with the duramax last February, at that time we were told 4-6 months. Then we were told we would likely be transitioned to a 23, which did occur and order for a 23 was submitted in early July. When we updated to the 23 dealer told us they were hoping to see within 4 months....well yea, now they're saying may not be until at least the new year so now they're offering to sell us a used vehicle which we could trade back in whenever our vehicle actually arrives....which doesn't sound sketchy at all....

Frustrating doesn't begin to describe this process....wishing we would have picked one up back at the beginning of COVID when dealerships were trying to give vehicles away but we were shopping for a house so it wasn't smart at the time!
Similar. Had an order for s Denali in since April. Got switched to a 23 and knew it wasn't going to be picked up until October bc I was adamant on ACC. Starting to see vehicles ship with ACC as a stand alone option and on the window sticker and am getting antsy.

has it been built? or has the order even been accepted?
and of course they'd like to unload a used one they sunk too much in off on you...

just my opinion...but if an order hasn't been picked up after several months and the constraints aren't something like RSE which was cancelled for the rest of the MY production, I'd look to ordering from a different dealership. back when we were in the process of ordering I had several dealerships tell me they were 8-10 months out on orders just being accepted.

"Your order has been submitted but not officially accepted"...

I'm just now learning/hearing about constraints and such so I honestly have no idea where ours stands in that regard, what is the best way to find out about those/what constraints a particular order/build has!? I've never ordered a vehicle before so I'm new to all of this!

As you've probably learned, there are two things at play here. First, your dealer has to get an allocation for a diesel. Those are at 10% for the remainder of the 2023 model year. If your dealer is on the smaller side, that could be a very long wait. No one really knows how GM decides which dealers get the diesel allocation, but more than likely, a larger dealer is going to have a better chance than a smaller dealer. Then the next thing you have to worry about is other constraints. Are you looking for an SLT or Denali? The SLT luxury package, Max tow and stand-alone Adaptive Cruise (for Denali) have been on constraint for months. There may be other constraints on your order as well. What exactly does your build look like? Yes it is frustrating but there are a lot of helpful people on this forum who are often more help than your dealer.

It doesn't look like ACC for Denali is on constraint as of early Oct.

This is why I am here, and I appreciate the help as these forums are very helpful!

We ordered ours through what I consider to be a large dealership in Idaho, we have the SLT with the luxury package and the max/pro trailering package....so yea, we are doomed! haha. I have thought about reducing what we want just to maybe improve our odds of getting something, but then again I know I would regret giving up a lot of what we want just to get something, especially with how much these dang things cost these days....so I guess we continue to wait! I am hoping (like many others from the sound of it) that sky rocketing interest rates and such will slow demand and free up production....but that could just as likely turn into increased demand for "insert reason here".

If nothing else I'm happy to be learning more about the process so that I better understand it and not just sitting and waiting!

Which dealership if you don't mind me asking? We have an XL SLE w/ Duramax and Max Tow on order through Robideaux in Coeur d'Alene. First ordered March 30th as a 2022, bumped to a 2023 at the end of June and still waiting at status 1100 as of today...

Yeah, so as I said, that could explain much of your delay. But the good news is that SLT Luxury package and Max tow appear to be off constraint now. Now you will just be waiting for that diesel allocation :)

Definitely explains it...fingers crossed that allocation comes through soon!

The allocations are updated weekly as I understand it, but beyond that there's not really any way to determine when a dealership may actually be allotted a vehicle....correct?

Yes, allocations are usually updated on Thursday. The best source of allocation and constraint info at a dealership is usually their "inventory manager" who specializes in putting in orders. But most dealers don't let him talk to the general public. I was fortunate in that my current dealer allows me to talk to him which is very nice. Most of the time you have to work with a salesman and often they don't have (or even understand) the nitty gritty details of the ordering process.

I do not have any personal experience with them, but I do remember ~20 years ago they were the place to go if you wanted a Dodge Ram diesel. They became a destination dealership and setup a shuttle from the Spokane, WA airport for people flying in from all over the country. Nowadays I don't get the impression they budge much on price and are living a bit on their reputation from the past. There's another forum member here that had an order through Dave Smith and I don't think it was going so well for them either. I also know that recently my father-in-law contacted them about a Ram diesel and they wouldn't budge below MSRP - there are numerous dealerships offering invoice pricing on Ram trucks right now.

Yea they are really popular where we're from (Nevada) for that reason and I see their temp plates all over town. Biggest reason we chose them is that of all the dealerships I contacted at the time regarding a Yukon XL and ordering, they were the only dealership I could find that wasn't up-charging on any sales or orders. Other than that I don't have a whole lot to go off of yet, hopefully that will change soon and I can update with good news...

I have a 2023 Yukon AT4 that has been stuck in code 4300 (immediate delivery) for over 4 weeks. Do any of you know of any reason it wouldn’t be shipped by now? My understanding is that 4300 means it has been manufactured and is ready to be shipped to the dealer.

I have a XL AT4 in the same boat. It's been at 4300 since early-Sept. Dealer and GM chat both tell me it's not missing any parts or chips. Just awaiting transport.

What is interesting is that for a while, it did not have a window sticker posted on GMC inventory page. Just a few days ago, one appeared. However, they told me that it wasn't missing parts even when it didn't have a window sticker and the event code was the same. So I'm not sure if I was getting good info or if the "no window sticker = missing chip" theory is no longer the case. Speculation on my end only... but I believe these 23 orders are complete but the shipping/transport is so backed up that they are literally just waiting on a truck to pick them up (I'm in Texas so no rail needed).

Either way, hoping to take delivery of mine soon and hope you can do the same.

Thanks for the info. I’m in Austin. My theory on when the window sticker gets created is when GM invoices the dealer which probably aligns with the missing chip theory since the won’t invoice until all the parts are accounted for.

How did you find the window sticker? Did the dealer tell you the VIN? I have an order # but not a VIN.

Dealer should be able to tell you the VIN or GM chat might (not sure about that). But you can also filter by dealer on the GMC inventory page. I was able to match one that shows "in transit" as the exact specs that I ordered, so I knew that was mine. If a window sticker is available, there will be a hyperlink just under where it says VIN number and "in transit".

How do I get to the ' GMC Inventory site ' ? I am new at this, but have had a order in since 1/31/22 that had to be reordered as a 23. Thank you. Or are you refering to the actual dealer inventory?

Thanks!
