Takata Air Bag recall

Called GM service. I was adviced that the parts are not available yet.

Any evidence that these airbags cause the cracks in our dashes? Or is the airbag in question on the pillar? My dash cracked right at the airbag square. And then from the front to the rear at the instrument cluster.

Living in the zone which they have deemed to be "safer", I would like to point out that we have seen temperatures in the high 90's for much of the summer. I , for one, would be happier if they would simply remove the potentially dangerous airbag and replace it at a later time, when the parts are available.

Has anyone tried removing it yet? Cant find anything online and dealer said absolutely not (obviously)

Well hell. I bought this tahoe knowing it had a recall buy didn't know what it was for. Kind of pissed the Chevy dealer didn't tell me what it was for. My own fault for not checking into it I guess.
