Now that the exterior portion of my truck is nearing completion I'm turning my attention to the interior. I used to be in to car stereos big time in high school but havent really had a "system" in awhile.

I want to keep the factory Bose headunit. Other than that I want to upgrade the speakers and add a sub. I'm thinking about 1 12" in the back. I'm not trying to beat down the block anymore, just some good sounding bass. I also want to keep most of my cargo space so no huge boxes. I know an aftermarket HU is way better but for now I'm deliberately wanting to keep the factory deck there.

1. Could I add the sub/amp simply to the oem bose system with no issues?

2. As for replacing the remaining speakers what do you recommend? Also, if I'm keeping the OEM deck will I need an amp to push the remaining speakers? Could they be run off the bose amp already there?

Before I added a deck to my Tahoe I had the factory Bose system with factory deck and hooked up 2 AMPS and my 2 Alpine Type R 12s using a Line Output Converter. Pick up this one as it’s the one I have and it worked great before I upgraded my deck. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_142SLC4/Scosche-SLC4.html?tp=2001

As far as door speakers go 6.5 With components, don't do it without a aftermarket headunit as the sound quality will not be much improvement without a new HU as well as your going to need another amp for them as well

I'm not sure, use the "chat" feature at www.crutchfield.com and ask any question you can think of, they will even show you what they recommend and e-mail you the entire discussion so you can look around online for best price besides them..Hope that info helps :Handshake:

IF you LOC everything then youll be fine.. they even make an ipod interface for the HU

You just need to run the right channels in the LOC dont half step of you wont have the fade and stereo sound like youre supposed to and the music will sound flat

You will need at LEAST a nice 4 channel for the front and a dedicated sub amp..

You dont HAVE to run components and some would even argue (cough cough ME cough) that the ability to EASILY run a (5 1/4 on top of a 6 )pair of co ax in each front door and twin 5 1/4s in the rear.. in your STOCK door panels under STOCK screens.. for 16 total speakers (8 woofers 8 tweets) will outperform any 4 components anyday.. and if you run it right you can keep your tweets and d pillars..

The rear.. if you run a sealed box then size isnt as much of an issue.. you can run 3 jl12w1s sealed in the same size box as ONE 12 in a ported box.. especially since you can put them sealed in a truck style box and put them behind the 3rd row and forget the ever existed.

IF i were to try and build a super covert system for a yukon or hoe.. and wanted it to sound AMAZING...

i would run 2 4channel amps.. one to each pair of doors (2 front)(2 rear)
try to keep all my tweets and pillars on the stock bose amp..
3 sets of Focal Polyglass 5 1/4s (internal crossovers , acts JUST like a component)
1 set of Focal Polyglass 6s (same story)

and run 1 more amp in mono to 3 12s in a sealed box behind the 3rd row

And DONT skimp on the loc.. spend a few extra dollars on the loc since its now basically controlling the sound quality of your WHOLE SYSTEM there is some SICK ones for $100-$150.. but spend at least.. $50-$60 dont plan on doing a $19 radio shack model

with your guidance i know ill get an awesome system!

i was only gonna go with 1 12" in the back. i took the 3rd row out for more cargo room. i guess i could put them back in an just fold them down

---------- Post added at 07:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:59 PM ----------

We can do the 165 CA1 s in it.. for like 160$ a set shipped.. for the 6.5s and i few dollars cheaper for the rear doors.. they are still AMAZING.. and it take the price for 4 from $420 to $320... and honestly.. they will still be the best sounding speaker you have ever owned..
