With 50+ million GM vehicles, someday soon maybe half will have paid subscriptions, these digital services like SC could end up being more profitable for GM than building actual cars.

Wrong. We pay for subscriptions for things we want that we dont have like Netflix. Its a service not a feature. We are paying for every option in this truck. They are mine, I paid for them. I agreed to them. Your premise is paying for "permission" to use what you already paid for and already own. That is ridiculous. Yet in their survey they believe people will pay up to and over 100 dollars a month for subscriptions in vehicles.?? Feels like when we used to rent cars 25 years ago and you paid extra to get a GPS. It was up to you. So you paid for Supercruise, but want to keep paying for it?? Absurd. They will push as far as they can. Paying for features you own?? You paid for it when you bought it. Now we are in bed with the mafia??Ok so? We have subscriptions for tons of stuff. Super cruise is well worth it. Nobody is buying 80k+ vehicles and complaining about a 15 to 20$ subscription. Lol.
I had this very conversation with a friend last night. He was looking at switching from YouTube TV to Fubo. I asked him what all he was paying subscriptions on and what his cable TV bill was before he ditched that. By the time he added up YouTube TV, Paramount+, Disney+, Netflix and something else it was well over what the original cable TV bill. Kind of funny considering all the talk about cutting cable and "saving so much money" by switching to streaming services. The Toyota thing is annoying because the cars affected were also cheaper cars. It is what it is. Similar to how we don't have cable now but pay just as much for the 100 streaming services because every show you like is on a different one![]()

I think the subscription is for the updates and mapping service. Something that needs to be maintained and updated over time. I still agree that it's completely bogus to have to pay an ongoing fee to keep your vehicle's features enabled. It's like a cell phone now, where you pay 2k every other year then another $100 a month to have the privilege of using it on a cell network....Wrong. Wrong you are just needing something to be outraged over. New to tech ? You paid for your phone but still gotta pay to use it. What about your computer ? Paid for but still pay to use it. Its nothing new. We are not talking about subscription for air conditioning. We are talking about new maps and roads and features so that what you paid for works well. Sheesh.Wrong. Your splitting hairs and have missed the point. Yes, you buy the phone and you pay to use someones network to make calls, and it has said features. If you want an app you pay for it. if it comes with the app at said price, they should not be charging 2 yrs later and making your phone have less features that you paid for originally with that app. BTW BMW was charging to use YOUR heated seats that YOU paid for. Air conditioning is not far away. Toyota was making owners pay monthly to remote start THEIR truck with a feature they paid for. We are not renting these vehicles...we own them. My Mercedes has lane keep, distronic cruise, auto stop, ect....which were features when buying the car. Doesnt cost a penny driving down the road. They will push as far as they can. If you accept it, there will more of it. Bmw backed up and so is Toyota...because people were "outraged". Yet GM thinks after people make a car payment, and maintenance plus fuel per month...they want to pay up 114 dollars for features and apps..........I wonder why millennials use Uber and think older people are nuts for owning cars they cant drive 24 hours a day?? My millennial neighbor, great kid, thinks its nuts to pay for 100% of a car that you only use infrequently. Said he'd rather rent a truck for the roadtrip, or take an Uber...its cheaper!! I almost agree with him. But then there is the freedom part of that scenario. No need to be condescending with your "outraged" and "new to tech" comments...thats classless. You can give a viewpoint and disagree easily yet you chose otherwise.Wrong you are just needing something to be outraged over. New to tech ? You paid for your phone but still gotta pay to use it. I had a similar setup with my current X7 and it is really good. Doesn’t change lanes by itself, I have to double move my turn signal to do it. I also couldn’t get a vehicle without ACC.Adaptive cruise is great. Once you get used to it. I first had it on my 2015 or 2017 Yukon XL? and initially I hated it from a control point of view and not trusting it. There was no option to use adaptive or regular cruise as todays truck has that choice. Well......I eventually fell in love with it and wouldnt own a truck without it. If you have the lane keep on and adaptive cruise you can actually be slightly distracted for a second without being too concerned. Its great IMHO.
I think you missed the point. 'They' will not be doing anything. No need to be afraid. Toyota was charging for enhanced remote features. Your remote could still start the car. Lots of misinformation here. Seems like the mo around here.Your splitting hairs and have missed the point. It's great and fully functional. And "Free".How is the adaptive cruise control on the Tahoe/Yukon? What will I be missing if I get a vehicle without supercruise, aside from bragging rights?
There is no comparison IMO, SC is a whole different ballgame. Adaptive cruise will slow down and apply the brakes as well as speed up when in traffic. The SC is a true "Hands Free" driving and is even better when in stop and go traffic. There is lot of reduced fatigue when not having to keep your hands on the wheel on long road trips. What is nice about having SC is that you get both the "Adaptive and the SC" options, so you can use either to your liking. There are pros and cons to everything when we purchase different options, some like bare bones and other like all the options. I am glad mine came with SC and will always be using it on trips. If I need too I can also use the "Adaptive Cruise"How is the adaptive cruise control on the Tahoe/Yukon? What will I be missing if I get a vehicle without supercruise, aside from bragging rights
