I’d change the (edit: Crankshaft) position sensor and then see what happens. Sometimes a rough running motor will trip your Stabilitrak and Traction Control due to vibration. Mine has set off those codes on rough washboard gravel roads.

Definitely the sensor first. Stabilitrak is just a nuisance for the most part.

Do check your identification of the code. I have a subscription to Mitchell for my 2008 and for mine P0335 is the Crankshaft Position Sensor.

ok, funny thing is it doesn't show any messages regarding Stabiilitrak until after it runs for 10mins.

You may still need the cam sensor and likely do because of the engine dying and the code but I would go ahead and get a good quality one and have it in case and get plugs if the inspection shows are needed and wires at the same time but the other concerns about stabilitrak and such are likely related to the hub/bearing/connectors/wiring area. You very likely have at least 2 problems. I am now assuming there was not much inspection done before you bought it. Any old paperwork and/or info supplied about maintenance and repairs? Did you get a CarFax? You would not have known about the cam sensor unless there was a code for you to retrieve with your scanner. The hubs may have been seen on a close inspection with tires on and off. Lots of unknowns at this time and like has been said, basics first instead of throwing parts at it. Hopefully you have another vehicle while you get thru this.

Also been said, the front likely has a bad hub bearing or two and when replace, for the love of God, don't go cheap. get Timken or AC Delco. May also just have some wires/connectors causing the problems at those wheel speed connections. If you have no idea on the age of the plugs and wires you again can get some good quality AC Delco parts for that but the plugs may look great. Pull one or two on each side and post pics here for recommendations. You will get there eventually with the fix on these problems.

Isn't P0335 a CRANKSHAFT position sensor code? Not camshaft?

Yes, I was responding to his description instead of verifying. P0335 is all about the crankshaft position sensor. Hopefully he reads this but if it was me, I would replace both of them.

replace it and have a relearn done, you may have to have the relearn done as soon as it is changed if it won't start and make it to a shop
after that is done if your stabiltrac light is still on then you need a better scan as those codes can be bcm codes and require a scanner that can read them like a tech2 or snap-on, etc

it's a special procedure, I don't know of any low end scanners that would do it but you could try looking around on google and see if there are any out there that can that are reasonably priced

We bought a 2007 GMC XL Denali this wknd with 163,000 on Odometer. When test driving it ran fine with no codes or messages other than low tire indicator. On way home from dealership we stopped at gas station to check air pressure. Upon stopping it started to idle roughly and then quit and then not restart until it cooled down. Also we noticed the cruise control did not work. The button light came on but no engagement light on cluster. After getting it started again it ran fine and we drove on, along the way random messages appeared such as stabiilitrak not engaged, service traction control and hood open.

Yesterday I replaced the brake light switch and that fixed the cruise control and message went away. Drove it today at lunch and it idled for awhile and then messages appeared again and now cruise doesn't work again. Can somet help me out. Does this sound like a bad ground somewhere or ??? Thanks all. I appreciate ya.

Just FYI, even a misfire will cause the Stabilitrac and Traction control lights to turn on.

The ECM is programmed to automatically disable the ST and TC when it senses any issues with the ignition or timing to take those systems out of the equation as possible culprits for the misfire or timing being retarded since those systems have the ability to reduce the engine's power output when they detect a wheel spinning or slipping.

Fix the engine issue and the ST and TC lights will resolve themselves.

If it were an actual issue with a wheel hub/speed sensor you would have an ABS light on as well, more than likely.

I would definitely change the crank sensor as a starting point before plugs and wires.

Where are you located? Maybe you are near a forum member that has a Tech 2 that would meet up with you and perform the relearn procedure for you. There are several of us that own Tech 2s.

Yup...I can verify that the ABS light will be on with faulty wheel speed sensor.

Thank you all for your help and expertise. I live in Northeast South Dakota. I will check with Auto zone today to see if they have a code readers that can do the relearn process that I can borrow.

I would just order a tech2 and do it yourself. You will use that tool again and be glad you have it.
