i've got a buddy with an 02 gmc truck and his truck sounds like chewbaka is under his hood when he turns to the right... is there something in his gearbox or something else? only when he turns right though... anyone ever heard of this?

Intermediate steering shaft I bet......known issue on the older GM trucks/Suvs!
Tell him to buy one from www.gmpartsdirect.com for a real good price!

Sounds like a wheel hub to me. Jack up the front and check for play in the wheels and noise when rotated.

If it's a hum, sounds like a hub issue. Did Chewbaca hum or growl?? I dunno LOL

If it's a clunk, probably inter steering shaft...I still need to do mine, just lazy
