Spacer and key lift installed

Alright, I finally got my keys and spacers installed on my 04 tahoe. got everything from eBay for $150.00 shipped.

Tools needed
-21mm socket
-18mm socket
-jack and jack stands
-torsion unload tool

I know I didnt use the torsion unload tool but it works.

First you need to jack up your vehicle, put it on jack stands. Then use the torsion unload tool to take the pressure off of the 18mm bolt so you can take out the block (I used a bottle jack to do so). In the first picture you can see the bolt needed to be removed along with the block.

The second picture shows the differance in the index of the stock key vs the eBay key.

The third pic shows how i reinstalled the key using the bottle jack. I just jacked up the key, re-inserted the block, and tightned the bolt back in.

Do this to both sides and the front is complete untill you need to level out the height of the vehicle.

Next lift up and place the back on jack stands and unbolt the sway bar(4th pic) and the emergency brake line brakcet.

Next support the rear axle with a jack so you can unbolt the shocks. (5th Pic)
Pay attn to the lines ontop of the axle when you lower it, I had to install one spacer and then move the jack to one side of the axle to get it low enough to install the other spacer.

Now, place the spacer in place and put the polyurathane part ontop of it and install the coil. (pic 1 and 2)

Reinstall everything in reverse order and youre done.

To install the shock extenders, unbolt the shock and upper arram, turn the bottom on the shock, remove the brake lines, install extender and rebolt everything up.

Lastly level out your heights and your got it perfect!!

Rear was 36.5"
Driver front was 36"
Passenger front was 36.5"

And thanks! Im looking for some 33 or 35s to give it that little bit more and cant decide to leave the running boards off or put em back on.

That's a solid 2" lift and looks great! I used to have those same boss wheels but I sold them for more of a offroad style. I recommend 33s cus you can get them without them being Load Range E for less weight. The 35s should have the front and rear diffs re-geared. I prefer the lighter tire of Load C and I dont really need the higher plys for the weight/frequency I tow.

John, awesome write up and pics. It may be just the angle the pic was taken, but it looks like the front is higher. Anyway, awesome truck. Be sure and post more pics when you get the bigger shoes. What you have done is what I want to do to mine, I just want to fit either 315's or 35's. I see several people here have done it, and to me it looks great.

I was told today that you cant run 35s with this set up, 33s anything bigger and your going to rub, and thanks! im here to help.

You can deffinately get 3" out of these keys but it looks like alot of stressin the ball joint, 2.5" is the max I would go on em. I read that someone with wheel spacers was able to get 35s on a level kit, but don't spacers just move the wheel further out?

Depends on what type of spacers. Coil spacers lift the rear, wheel spacers make your tires looks wider.
I plan on doing 3" rear coil spacers with ford keys and 35's. Might have a little rake though :(

Edit: i half as read your post haha. Disregard the above! Here's a pic with 2" spacers/35's

I can't decide between a 3" or 2" spacer. I have 2's sitting in my room and just found a good deal on 33" mud graps for my stocks that i could buy tomorrow! But idk what to do!!!

I dont remember the name, but you can do a search. My kit came with 2 spacers 2 keys and 2 shock extenders for the front.

I tired putting 1.5" spacers in today while swapping out my shocks and could not get enough room between the rear end and the springs even with the rear end dropped as far as it would go without taking the whole thing out! Only way I can see it being possible would be if I got spring compressors for whatever reason? So I said screw it because I don't rub with my 33" and dont really need the extra height in the rear other than for looks!:confused:
