First, I've read a lot of threads here and elsewhere about the airbags, however can't seem to find something particular to this issue.
I took my 2005 Tahoe to a body shop, the front bumper had a bit of rust (it's painted black - Z71 color) and was really annoying me to look at. He advised me he could remove the bumper or I could do it and save $200 in labor. He pointed out where the bolts were located and seemed like an easy job.
Now I know why he suggested it...
Right now the "Service Air Bag" light is on, I've disconnected the battery, removed the fuse, tried to reset different things and no luck. However, neither another body shop nor I can pull up any codes using the OBD!!!
I'm stumped... Should I try and replace both? The dealer said it's an hour of labor to look plus a fee for their diagnosics testing (because they can't make enough from you) but told me it could be $700+!
A garage said they can try and replace them, it's $200 each side.
Any thoughts?
