finally time to change out my bottom seat cover. it's got a tear in the middle perforated section. the rest seems OK ish.

mainly wondering how hard it is do get the seat out and cover off and on. I had the passenger side unbolted once to fix a switch. I was amazed how heavy it was, and didn't really see an easy was to get it out of the car. so I ended up fixing the switch in the car and just bolted it back down.

anyone got any vidoes or info on the actual replacement?

You can do it in the car if you have go go gadget arms to get the seat cover clip off the frame on the inside. Just pop all the trim pieces off, unhook all the J-clips, lift up the cushions the front, and disconnect the seat heater (if equipped).

I did The Seat Shop Durafoam cushion on both of mine because the factory cushions just don’t have any support and it is a huge upgrade, in my opinion. Better than the 07-09 seats and better than brand new OEM cushions. The later seats really suck.

oh nice. I'd have never thought you could do it in the car. none of those hog rings or whatever they call the metal rings you need a tools to take on and off?

I'm torn on doing the foam, since I'm fine with the seat as is. Just need to fix the tear. but while you're in there type of thing I guess.

No hog rings on these, plastic clips embedded into the foam. They can break though so be gentle when releasing them. Either of those are what attaches to the cover to the cushion. The cushion and and cover come out together and then you take them apart.

@j91z28d1 You can pull the seat out, I did. Easier with two people due to bulkiness and weight. The Seat Shop has videos on the actual work to replace the cushion.

Durofoam from The Seat Shop for quality and longevity.

It's not terrible to get out of the car, just make sure you disconnect the two small harnesses below the driver's seat, accessible from the rear footwell. There is a video or 12 showing the procedure for moving the seat controls into the optimal position before removal, so it's easier to fit out the driver's door.

It's 1000% easier and faster to do the job with the seat out of the car, and up on a table. I had to do it twice, when the ebay kit I used the first time around had the worst foam, and was quickly replaced with a Durafoam piece. I accidentally ripped the airbag sensor wire out of its tiny harness, and had to resolder the connectors together, and that was no fun, but it's all good now.

I'll have to watch those videos. I could see two people, that thing was heavy. I was able to lean it back and replaced the recline button.

I'd like to get the cooled seat work better too. so maybe I can look into that while it's apart.
